00:04until it can be certain that people can't break Islamic law by betting on it.
00:08The Taliban believes in an incredibly strict interpretation of Islam
00:11and since returning to power in 2021,
00:13the group has massively pulled back the rights of women and girls,
00:16banning them from secondary education
00:17and from visiting many public places such as parks and gyms
00:20under the guise of Islamic law.
00:22The Taliban has also banned political parties,
00:24basically establishing a one-party state
00:26and this is not the first time this regime has outlawed a sport
00:28with MMA being prohibited in 2021 due to a ban on face punching.
