Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen is in Lithuania, a key European ally she worked to engage during her time in office. During the visit, Tsai toured Leafood, Europe’s largest vertical farm developed with the help of Taiwanese engineers, and praised Lithuania’s shared democratic values.

00:16its shared commitment to democracy. Back in 2021, Lithuania made headlines by opening the
00:22Taiwanese representative office in Vilnius, the first in Europe to use the name Taiwanese
00:27instead of Taipei. China, which claims Taiwan, strongly objected. In response,
00:34Beijing downgraded diplomatic ties and imposed trade restrictions on Vilnius.
