00:00I got brought in a really good position and then Imogen Wolf did a really good
00:07job. Yeah, Misha Braderwold opened their sprint and yeah actually the last 150
00:13meters we just two abreast I think. So yeah, it was very close.
00:19Welcome to the seventh and final stage of La Vuelta Femenina. After Mariana Voss pipped
00:34Misha Braderwold yesterday, it's time to settle the GC battle with a mega queen stage in the
00:40Asturias. Demi following leads by 45 seconds and it's going to take something special to
00:46prevent the Queen of Spain from defending her crown. But as we know there are always twists
00:51and turns at La Vuelta and anything's possible in this final mountain showdown.
00:55I think it's going to be a very hard stage. It's long, it's hard, there are multiple long
01:01climbs so it's very interesting what will happen but I think, yeah, I hope that Nif and me will
01:07be up there in the final climb to battle for GC.
01:11This is the hardest stage in Vuelta Femenina history with three big climbs and almost 3,000
01:16meters of elevation gain. The Alto de Coyadona 5.5k at 7.4%, the Alto de la Coyadilla 6.4k
01:25at 8.2% and finally the Alto de Cotobillo 10.3k at 8%. This is certainly not one for the faint
01:33of heart.
01:35The live pictures began as they were making their way up the second climb, the Coyadilla,
01:40with two riders leading. Agnieszka Skalniak Sojka of Canyon Schramm Zonda Crypto and Femke
01:46De Vries of Visma Lisa Bike. The peloton only trailed by around a minute though, with Kristen
01:51Faulkner out the back after a rather spectacular crash, the American champion totally exploding
01:56both of her tires. Luckily she was okay to carry on.
02:01Around 4km from the summit of the climb, De Vries went solo at the front. There was a bit
02:05of freedom today for the Visma Lisa Bike rider after her GC leader Pauline Ferron Prevost pulled
02:11out a few days ago.
02:12Many riders losing contact with a bunch.
02:16The team have still managed to take two stage victories with Mariana Voss who was soon dropped
02:20from the peloton. And she wasn't the only one struggling as Follering's biggest GC rival
02:26Anna van der Brechen took up the pacing duties. Rijana Marcus, last year's runner-up, saying
02:31goodbye. And so too was Cassia Nuevia-Doma, who made it clear before the race that she
02:36wasn't here targeting GC.
02:38FDJ Suez taking over at the front of the red jersey group for their red jersey as they
02:43approach the summit. De Vries leading the way over the top, only 15 seconds or so ahead
02:48of the favourites. Another 10 points meanwhile for Evita Music, who had virtually taken the
02:53polka dot jersey from Follering.
02:56As they swept into the descent, Monica Trinca-Colonel went on the attack for Liv Alulejeco. The Italian's
03:02been lively this week, finishing fifth on stage two and fourth on stage four.
03:07Number 83 has been already neutralised by the bunch.
03:12She was eventually joined by her fellow daredevil descender Cedrine Cabello, but they weren't
03:16able to get a gap and eventually called it off. Juliette Leboose going back to the front
03:21for FDJ.
03:22Xavi Garcia was the next to try her luck for Liv Alulejeco and she did manage to get
03:27away, but she had Evita Music for company. A perfect situation this for FDJ Suez and Follering,
03:33as those two riders quickly pulled around 45 seconds clear.
03:37Meanwhile other teams were making moves in the peloton including Movistar and Canyon Tram.
03:42Nuevia-Doma making a couple of attempts to break the string after catching up again.
03:47Once they returned to the valley though, things calmed down again. And that enabled Garcia and
03:51Musique to increase their lead to a minute and 30 seconds.
03:55It was another miserable day here in northern Spain, with the rain falling as they approached
03:59the final climb. More women had caught up to the main peloton, so the top GC riders had
04:04extra domestiques to help them out. Even Mariana Voss was back on bottle duty for Visma Lisa bike.
04:11Steve works driving things on for Vanderbrechen and bringing the gap down to around a minute.
04:17A horrible moment for Osoa Ostolasa, Femke de Vries and Neve Bradbury, but luckily they
04:30were all quickly back on their feet. The Australian in particular has had rotten luck this week.
04:35Well back at the front, Garcia and Musique only led by 37 seconds as they embarked on the final climb of
04:41this Vuelta Femenina. Bredeval doing a sensational job for SD works before handing over to Vanderbrechen
04:47just before they caught the two escapees. So all back together again with 7.9k to go.
05:00The front group being thinned out with riders starting to crack under the pressure. Bunel then
05:05tried to go clear but to no avail. Musique also attacked again but she too was brought straight back.
05:12Vanderbrechen going back to the front with Follering on the wheel and it was soon down to an elite group
05:17of riders. Marlon Reuze holding on very nicely but the others were dropping one by one.
05:22Vanderbrechen doing all sorts of damage. With 5k to go there were only five women left.
05:29Vanderbrechen, Follering, Reuze, Kerbayol and Trinca Colonel. The Italian was soon gone but Kerbayol
05:35resisted superbly just hanging onto Reuze's wheel. The top four overall this morning,
05:41proving they are indeed the four strongest riders in this race.
05:45Fisher Black, Leboos and Trinca Colonel were the best of the rest chasing at about 30 seconds.
05:50Still no moves in the leading quartet as they entered the last two kilometers.
05:54Remember, Vanderbrechen and Reuze were separated by just one second overall.
05:59Follering had a first go with 1.5k remaining but the other three were equal to the move.
06:05It is an immediate response from Anna Vanderbrechen.
06:07AVD beat back on the front as they went under the flamme rouge but when Follering went for the second
06:13time there would be no stopping her. Well she's gone again, Follering around the outside and all of
06:18these three riders out of the saddle. Kerbayol starting to suffer here a little bit. This is the toughest
06:23part of the climb and this is the end of a long long week. And Marlon Reuze who looks like she's gone
06:28solo from Vanderbrechen. And once more for the preeminent force in women's stage racing in this current
06:37era and well it's another important title is being claimed by Demi Vollering. A second success of
06:45glory in Vuelta Femenina as she takes stage honors and now can celebrate considerable relief indeed.
06:52And it's victory on stage seven and victory overall for Demi Vollering. And it's Marlon Reuze goes to
07:00the line to finish second on the day and second overall in the bike race too.
07:07For the second year running Demi Vollering wins La Vuelta Femenina and for the second year running she was
07:13in a league of her own, conquering both summit finishes of this 2025 edition. The 28-year-old was
07:19quick to praise her FDJ Suez team who more than played their part as she secured her third Grand
07:25Tour victory and ticked over to 50 career wins. I'm very happy. I'm really happy that I could win
07:33both mountain stages and yeah my team was again so strong and we were always in control for my feelings
07:40so I'm really happy about the whole performance with the whole team. Following taking the final stage
07:47by just 11 seconds from Reuze who's really established herself as the top GC rider this week.
07:52Van der Brechen was third at 25 seconds followed by Kerbayol and Fisher Black.
07:58Following's margin of victory was one minute and one second over Reuze who snuck ahead of Van der Brechen
08:03also named the race's most combative rider on the final day. French duo Kerbayol and Labus round out the top
08:10five. Vos took a commanding victory in the points classification. She finished on 245 almost 100
08:17clear of following in second place with Femke Heretzer making it an all-dutch podium. With her
08:23stage victory today and 20 points at the Sima Estela Dominguez, following also finished as the race's
08:29queen of the mountains ahead of Reuze and Musique. With three riders in the top 10, FDJ Suez were
08:37unsurprisingly the best team this week by more than nine minutes from Lidl Trek. And Ninka Vinka
08:44of Picnic Postonel was the best young rider coming in at ninth place overall. And so the curtain comes
08:50down on La Vuelta Femenina 2025. Congratulations to our winner following and to the podium finishers
08:57at Reuze and Van der Brechen. We look forward to them renewing rivalries at this summer's Tour de
09:02France Femme avec Zwift. Join us next time and thanks for watching.
