00:00The United States has imposed sanctions on a third independent Chinese oil refinery,
00:06commonly known as teapot refinery, along with several port terminal operators in China.
00:11The move comes in response to their purchase of Iranian oil
00:14ahead of an expected US-Iran nuclear talks happening this weekend in Oman's capital.
00:22This is the latest Chinese teapot refinery targeted by the Trump administration
00:27under its reimposed maximum pressure policy.
00:31This policy aims to cut off Iran's export revenue
00:34in order to pressure Tehran into a deal to curb its nuclear program
00:38and stop the funding of militant groups across the Middle East.
00:42The company sanctioned is Hebei Sinhai Chemical Group Refinery
00:45and three other companies for operating a terminal at Dongying Port in Shandong province.
00:52Officials say they had purchased or facilitated the delivery
00:55of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Iranian oil.
00:59Previous sanctions on Chinese refiners have reportedly created difficulties in receiving oil,
01:05leading them to halt purchases of crude oil and sell product under other names.
01:10China's embassy in Washington has strongly opposed the US abuse of unilateral sanctions
01:15and long-arm jurisdiction, urging the US to stop interfering with
01:20and undermining normal economic and trade relations between China and Iran.
