During remarks on the Senate floor Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spoke about President Trump's nominee to lead the Social Security Administration, Frank Bisignano.

00:00As Republicans press forward this week, axing Medicaid and other popular programs,

00:05today, Senate Republicans will turn their attention to attacking Social Security

00:09in the name of voting on Frank Bisignano to lead the SSA.

00:16It is literally putting the fox in the henhouse.

00:21If confirmed, Mr. Bisignano would be one of the greatest threats to Social Security

00:26in its 90-year history, one of the greatest threats we have ever had.

00:32He will accelerate the closures, the rollbacks, and risky practices that Doge has already set in motion,

00:39and the anxiety Americans feel about their benefits will only get worse.

00:44I am proud that every single Democrat will vote no on Mr. Slash-and-Burn Bisignano.

00:50The last person we need overseeing senior benefits is a Doge fanatic.

00:55He says he's a proud Doge guy whose claim to fame was overseeing mass layoffs in the private sector.

01:02Yes, that's his claim to fame.

01:06During his testimony, Mr. Bisignano lied to senators about his ties to Doge

01:10and about his role in executing cutbacks at the SSA, at the Social Security Administration.

01:16If he lied about that, what's stopping him from lying about cutting benefits down the line?

01:21Donald Trump and Republicans can't say directly that they want to kill Social Security outright.

01:27So instead, they're choosing another method of killing it.

01:30Strangulation.

01:32Office closures.

01:33Delays.

01:34Mass layoffs.

01:35Trouble over the phone.

01:36Trouble over the email.

01:38Every single Republican senator who votes yes on Bisignano

01:42will be complicit in strangling Social Security, plain and simple.

01:47If Mr. Bisignano is confirmed, Republicans will own all of the chaos he creates.

01:53Because, again, he is letting in the Slash-and-Burn Fox into the Social Security henhouse.

02:02A yes for Mr. Bisignano is a vote for delayed benefits,

02:06for longer wait times over the phone, even more layoffs and office closures.

02:10So today, Senate Republicans will have to make a choice.

02:14Vote no on Bisignano and protect the millions of Americans who rely on Social Security,

02:20or vote yes on Mr. Bisignano,

02:22and side with Donald Trump and Elon Musk and Doge as they tear Social Security apart.
