India’s ex-Envoy Bambawale advises prioritizing “national interest” ahead of UNSC meet on Kashmir

New Delhi, May 06, 2025 (ANI): On upcoming United Nation Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Kashmir attack, former Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, Pakistan and China, Gautam Bambawale advocated for prioritizing “Actions in National Interest.”Speaking to ANI, he stated, “India should do whatever it wants to do in its own national interest. We should not take too much importance to UNSC members, what they are saying or not saying. We need them on our side but at the same time we must take our action as we being fit.”

00:00I must say to you that, you know, I have my own views about this.

00:04I have not followed what the UN Security Council has decided or said very closely.

00:10But I feel that India should do whatever it wants to do and needs to do in its own national interest.

00:17We should not take too much importance, place too much importance on what the UN Security Council

00:23and members of the UN Security Council are saying or not saying.

00:27We need them on our side, but at the same time, we must take our action as we deem fit

00:34and based on India's national interest.

00:37The way they have come forward condemning that action.

00:41Look, international community has condemned the action,

00:45but you must also note that international community is continuously saying

00:49that India and Pakistan must show restraint.

00:52And I believe that in this particular case that India should do what it has to do

00:59in its own national interest without putting too much importance on what other countries are saying or doing.
