UOW students on HECS debt cut

Students at the University of Wollongong share their thoughts on the reelected Labor government's plan to cut HECS debts by 20 per cent.

00:00I've kind of been ignoring the Hex debt, but any reduction I am happy with I suppose.

00:16I don't know what the overall thing is, but after just one semester I know that my Hex

00:19debt was almost three grand, so 20% would be great.

00:22Well, we only just started in our first year, so it's not really that big right now, but

00:28we're just hoping that we actually do get the 20% that was asked off to.

00:32I mean, yeah, if I have to spend my money, then yeah.

00:35Oh, yeah, so keen.

00:37I saw that on the voting thing and I was like, yep, very excited.

00:41For me, I did a teaching degree, so that's about 35,000, so I'm not very good at maths,

00:48but 20% is a good portion, a bit over six grand, so it'll be beneficial.
