00:19modernist-style building, nicknamed the bunker, opened in 1982 and was expanded in 1989. To access
00:29the palace, film stars climb the famous 24 steps, stopping to pose in front of hundreds of cameras.
00:36The stars then file into the Louis Lumiere Grand Auditorium, which seats 2,300 people. The
00:45auditorium hosts the opening and closing ceremonies for the festival. There are official film screenings
00:52twice per evening in the auditorium, and it is where the best director is awarded with the prestigious
00:58Palme d'Or. The film market, located in the basement, offers a place for film professionals
