00:00The 2025 Polaris Expedition ADV5 promises the capability, comfort, and space to get
00:06you and your family deep into the wilderness for a long weekend.
00:09It's designed to put all the convenience of your truck into a side-by-side so you can
00:13leave your daily driver at the trailhead and spare it the abuse of pushing deep into the
00:17woods or desert.
00:18It's got seating for five, a serious stereo, Polaris ride command, room for all the gear
00:24you could ever need, and it's ready to accept a roof rack and a rooftop tent.
00:28It gets shoved from Polaris' 114-horsepower ProStar II parallel twin, which gives it just
00:34enough shove to keep up with some of the sportier rigs out on the trail.
00:37I'm Aaron, that's Zach, and this is everything you need to know about the 2025 Polaris Expedition
00:43ADV5 Northstar Edition.
00:46So the first thing you notice about this thing is just how big it is.
00:50We are talking just under 13 feet long.
00:53That means that your little yard trailer isn't going to be enough to move this thing around.
00:56So for perspective, a two-door Jeep Wrangler is only a little bit longer.
01:00So Aaron, what about width and height?
01:03It's 64 inches wide, which is just about the same as a Polaris Ranger XP-1000, and it
01:08is 75 inches tall, which is exactly the same as the Wrangler.
01:12So while it isn't the biggest UTV on the trail, it's hardly petite.
01:16And its size means that there is tons of interior space.
01:18Yeah, with the rear seats in place, you've got a cargo box that's about three feet wide
01:22and about four feet long.
01:24And if you fold the rear seats down, that expands to about six feet.
01:28So you're talking about a bed area that is really longer than some small pickup trucks.
01:33Or you can leave the seat backs in place and you can fold up the rear bench.
01:3660-40 split, and it gives you access to a flat floor that is 28 inches deep.
01:41It's a lot of room.
01:42You can put all sorts of stuff down there, coolers, gear, whatever you need.
01:45And speaking of the 60-40 split seat, that means that you can keep one passenger or two
01:49passengers back there and some gear that's tied down.
01:52And Polaris will outfit the rig with cargo anchors in the rear floor, so there's no question
01:56about where to tie gear down.
01:58All right, but you can also stick stuff on the roof.
01:59Yeah, that's right.
02:00You can get a roof rack that covers most of the roof.
02:03And so you can either put a ton of cargo up there, but we tested a version with a Polaris
02:07accessory rooftop tent on it.
02:10Now that thing was cool.
02:11Polaris says the tent will hold up to three adults, but we wouldn't try that with anyone
02:14you aren't super close with.
02:16Yeah, or like you and your wife and her girlfriend.
02:19Yeah.
02:20The tent is also an extra $1,999, and it requires a Rhino Rack cargo Rack, which will set you back
02:27$560 bucks.
02:29So total cargo capacity, we'll be talking.
02:31So 600 pounds in the cargo box itself, and the overall rig is rated for 1,030 pounds
02:37of payload.
02:38That is a lot of gear in people.
02:40That's a lot.
02:41Yeah.
02:42Okay, so you can put a lot of gear in it.
02:43It's very spacious, a lot of people.
02:45All that means, it's pretty heavy.
02:47Oh yeah.
02:48This thing is 2,790 pounds dry.
02:51That means no fluids, no fuel, no nothing.
02:54Wow.
02:55So call it every bit of 3,000 pounds ready to roll.
02:57Yeah, that sounds about right.
02:59And for reference, my 2024 Honda Civic SI weighs 2,952 pounds with gas in it.
03:06So yeah, she heavy.
03:08All that weight means the Pro Star 2 is working pretty hard, even with 114 horsepower.
03:13Like all Polaris products, that engine turns a CVT transmission, continuously variable transmission,
03:18and you get four-wheel drive, two-wheel drive, and turf mode.
03:21Turf mode unlocks the rear differential, so you don't tear up a bunch of grass.
03:25Don't expect this to be the fastest Polaris you have ever driven.
03:28Even with all that weight, this thing is plenty fun to hustle.
03:31Once you get it up to speed, it's plenty characterful, and it's a lot of fun to drive.
03:35I can attest to that.
03:36I drove this thing over 100 miles across the Arizona desert, and it never felt overstressed.
03:41That engine is an absolute riot.
03:43To keep all that mass in check, Polaris fitted Fox Podium 2.0 QS3s up front and Fox Podium 2.5 QS3s out back.
03:53It also has high clearance A-arms front and rear, and all that yields 14 inches of travel at the front and 15 inches of travel at the back.
04:01So that's it for the Go Bits. Let's talk about the Creature Comforts.
04:04The top-of-the-line ADV Northstar comes with power windows as well as HVAC, which means you get both air conditioning and heat.
04:12And that's not the end of the Creature Comforts. You also get a JBL Trail Pro stereo.
04:17This thing is unreal. It has a 400-watt 10-inch sub and a 200-watt amp.
04:23The stereo is powered by Polaris' right-of-command infotainment and navigation system.
04:27You have heard us say this a million times, but it bears repeating, Polaris Ride Command is the best OEM infotainment system in the business.
04:36It has more than a million miles of trails built in, and it can communicate between other Ride Command-equipped rigs, and that's just scratching the surface.
04:44That brings us to the seats, which are good enough that Polaris now puts them in the Razer Pro R.
04:49And if you've been living under a rock, that is the top-of-the-line machine in Polaris' whole range.
04:54All that capability and comfort will set you back. This thing is not cheap. Listen, we are well past being shocked by very expensive side-by-sides, but oh boy.
05:04Uh, well, so how much are we talking?
05:06Look, if you want the Expedition ADV-5 North Star Edition, $44,999.
05:13Say that one more time.
05:15$44,999.
05:17And that's after you get into the accessories catalog?
05:20It is not.
05:21Oh.
05:22Nor is it to include destination or taxes.
05:25Shoof!
05:26Yeah boy.
05:27Which means you are knocking on every bit of $50,000 by the time you walk out the door.
05:31If you aren't willing to shell out that kind of money and are willing to do with a few less creature comforts, so you don't want to deal with glass or HVAC, the ADV Ultimate will cost you $36,999.
05:42Okay, so less, but I don't get glass?
05:45No, no, no. Or HVAC.
05:47Sure, alright.
05:48So that's everything you need to know about the 2025 Polaris Expedition ADV-5 Ultimate.
