Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), May 02, 2025 (ANI): VISL Managing Director Divya S Iyer hailed the inauguration of Vizhinjam Port by PM Modi on May 2. She said that the inauguration is a “big milestone” for Kerala. The port is expected to bring significant advancement in India's maritime infrastructure.
00:00This is a big milestone for all of us, not just for this generation, but it's been a dream over centuries.
00:07We have the most modern technology for port operations here, the first of its kind in several fields in port operations here.
00:15But along with that, we have tried to ensure that the community engagement around it and the people around the port and people in the state are also a part of this entire story.
00:27So currently, you know, with the business, with the commerce that we have had since trial run itself, we've had around 280 ships and over 6 million TUs that has come in here, which is around 1.2 million containers as such, which has come in here.
00:42So that really shows us, you know, what the business pace is going to be like in the upcoming years as well.
