New Play centre for children opens in Stourbridge Centre

Hoults House Play Village is now open in The Ryemarket Shopping Centre in Stourbridge. We went along to look around.

00:00So we're here in Stourbridge at the Rhymarket Shopping Centre and it's Holt's House Play

00:05Village and you are Mr Holt, James Holt.

00:07I am James Holt, how are you?

00:09I'm good, thank you matey. It's a brand new facility, what is the Play Village here?

00:14Holt's House Play Village is a family and child friendly active play zone where we've got a wide

00:20range of activities for kids and parents to interact and be inclusive as possible and also

00:26this is catered for mainly zero to seven but we're also looking at older children to come in and play

00:31as long as we play by the rules everyone can have a good time.

00:34Great and it's kind of split into zones isn't it? Talk about some of the zones you've got like a

00:39reading, a chill and... Yes so in the Holt's House we've got for most importantly the role play zone

00:45where it's got things like vets, science lab, house and many more and we're trying to include and

00:53promote role play scenarios because we want kids to be using their creative and interacting skills

01:01and that's where unlike other play facilities like creches and soft plays we want to be more

01:06inclusive and we want to really show our creative size and being more inclusive of everybody.

01:12And that little chill area that looks quite nice at the back there, you've said you can vouch for that,

01:18it's very relaxing in there isn't it? I can definitely agree, the sensory space is very

01:22relaxing with all the bright colours and the space themed and also all the little toys you can play

01:28whilst we're interacting with colour and light. What about for mums and dads when they're here,

01:33is there somewhere to get a drink or a bite to eat? We have a wide range of snacks and refreshments

01:39ranging from hot and cold drinks like classic teas and coffees and also classic snacks in packet snacks

01:45like crisps and biscuits etc. Cool and opening times, when are you open so parents can get you

01:52involved? So we're open seven days a week and Monday to Friday we're looking at nine till five and

01:59throughout those time slots we'll also be having time slots it's not although it'll be open Monday to

02:04Friday it's open nine to five but we aim to have time slots so you can just book in or we do also

02:09accept walk-ins and then same with the weekends but weekends are a little bit different. Weekends we

02:14have parties and if there's no parties booked you can just come as a normal session and Saturdays are

02:20normally around nine to 4.30 and some days are 10 to 4. And they can you know they're quite lively

02:28little ones when they're about but you're no stranger to working with youngsters are you just

02:32talk us through some of the bit of your background. Yes thank you, in my experience I've worked with a

02:37wide range of sports coaching companies ranging from Sport for Kids, Spire Sports and most recently

02:46ace coaching which I would definitely say has been a highlight of my sports coaching career which

02:50I've not just worked with a wide range of wonderful team of people because I like to believe in a team

02:58team player because just because Holt is on the board of Holt's Holt's Play Village I want to make this

03:04as a team and friendly environment possible where we're all inclusive and we all bring in our own

03:09individual ideas and put them together and yeah I just feel like that's what I really enjoy

03:15about being sport being a sports coach in the past where like working with multiple kids doing

03:20multiple multi-sports and that's where I want to bring into this environment as well as learn new

03:25things like arts and crafts weekly themes weekly themes themes like animals and outer space and

03:32different types of topics we need to go through everyday life yeah yeah that sounds awesome mate well
