00:00And so much stress has been placed on gratitude in Islam, in the Quran,
00:05the very Fatiha that we recite every day, 17 times a day,
00:09begins with Alhamdulillah, gratitude.
00:14There is also a beautiful dua the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam had taught us,
00:18and he ordered all his companions,
00:22anyone who heard it must learn it,
00:23meaning must memorize it and apply it in his life.
00:26And it begins by an acknowledgement,
00:27Allahumma inni abduk, O Allah, I am your slave,
00:30the son of your male slave, the son of your female slave,
00:33my destiny is in your hand, your judgment upon me is judged.
00:37And after all this introduction,
00:40he asked Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make the Quran the spring of his life
00:43and the repeller of his sadness and grief and depression.
