Analysis: Taiwan's Workplace Bullying Problem

Taiwanese labor activist Chu Chih-yu discusses Taiwan's struggles with workplace bullying, a key focus of this year's Labor Day protest.

00:00A special focus of this year's Labor Day demonstration is ending workplace bullying.

00:05That's because last year Taiwan was shocked when a civil servant committed suicide after alleged bullying at work.

00:11Do you think that overall bullying is a big problem in Taiwan's workplaces and why do you think that is?

00:30There's a peculiarity about Taiwan that seems to leave civil servants especially vulnerable to issues like bullying.

00:56And that's the fact they can't form unions and they're negotiating options are limited when they run into trouble.

01:02How does that factor in?

01:03In the previous case of the decision-making process, we have to grips with the two mandatory documents.

01:11On the two-partition document, we mentioned there's a lot of money against the law of law.
