00:01Hello, I'm Rachel Grealish from the Yorkshire Post and today we have the latest on the tragic case of Joshua Spence.
00:09Eight-year-old Joshua was hit and killed by a neighbour's car just a yard from his home in Catterick on September 5th, 2023.
00:17He had been walking back from a friend's when he was struck by the neighbour's car while they were parking.
00:23The neighbour told the police later he wasn't even there and then he was under the wheels.
00:30Despite efforts from the neighbours and emergency crews, Joshua was pronounced dead an hour later.
00:37A post-mortem confirmed he died quickly from a fatal blunt head injury.
00:42At an inquest in an emotional tribute to her son, his mother described him as her sunshine, a football-loving boy full of laughter and love.
00:53The coroner concluded Joshua died from the head injury following the traffic collision and offered condolences to the family.
