00:00Good evening, everybody.
00:09Welcome along to our post-match show.
00:11It's so good to have you with us.
00:12It's so, so, so good to have you.
00:14We're back.
00:14Good, yes.
00:15How do you think we performed on the main TV yesterday?
00:19Thank you for tuning in over on Paramount+.
00:19Well, that's to be, I don't know, TBD.
00:21We'll hear from Harold and our bosses, won't we?
00:24How did you think it went?
00:25I thought it went well.
00:26What did you think?
00:27I thought it went really good.
00:28Yeah?
00:28It was amazing.
00:29Yeah.
00:30You seem a bit down in the dumps.
00:31No, no, I'm good.
00:32I'm ready to go.
00:33I'm energised.
00:34Yeah?
00:34Yeah.
00:35A little bit sad with performance, but I think PSG deserved it.
00:37They were a better team on the night.
00:39Got to give them credit.
00:40A little bit disappointed with the battle with Saka Nudo-Ment.
00:44I meant something before the game.
00:45Travis Skellier killed it.
00:47He killed it because he was doing what Arsenal do to so many teams.
00:51Just dropping deep.
00:53And he couldn't get at him.
00:54But apart from that, yeah.
00:56Are the Ties still alive?
00:57Yes, I do.
00:58Very much alive.
01:00One-nil's a great result.
01:01Can't wait to go to the Parc des Princes.
01:03Parc des Princes.
01:04Parc des Princes.
01:05You want to go?
01:05Are we going?
01:06I don't know.
01:06You said that.
01:07Maybe you know something.
01:08We're not going.
01:08You know we can't go.
01:09We're not going.
01:10Oh, we can't because of David Beckham.
01:12It's all about mix.
01:13It's ruined it all for us.
01:15There's no money left.
01:16Beckham's got it all.
01:17Is that what it is?
01:18No, we just have to be here because the Beckham studio is right here.
01:21But we can take you out to the Emirates for immediate reaction from over there.
01:24So let's go over to our friends, Peter Schmeichel, Anita Jones.
01:27Your thoughts on having watched that game over there?
01:30Well, first of all, you're not going.
01:32It's not because of David Beckham.
01:34It's because we're going.
01:35I did all right when I was in Italy, Peter.
01:41I did all right.
01:42I did an okay job before when I went on the road.
01:47You've been on the road one time, haven't you?
01:49Yeah, definitely.
01:50I have asked for you to come out and you've ducked out of every time.
01:54Oh, sounds like a challenge.
01:56I want to show you the road.
01:57I'll tell you what.
01:58I'll tell you what.
01:59If you want me to come to the partner, Peter, I will come with you.
02:03No problem at all.
02:04Next week.
02:05But David Beckham's going to be here.
02:07Well, Peter and Anita.
02:09Would you like to be with Peter in the Parc des Princes or here with David Beckham?
02:12I'd rather be with them in the Parc des Princes.
02:14Oh.
02:15Wait till Beck's found out.
02:16No contents, is it?
02:17No, no contents.
02:18Absolutely not.
02:19Yeah, but Micah, you and me will be crying at the end of the game.
02:21So I don't know if you really want to come along to that.
02:23I don't think you can say that, Mike.
02:25That Micah is an Arsenal fan.
02:27I don't think you can.
02:29Have you given up hope, Anita?
02:32No, but I mean, I'm hoping with Thomas Partey,
02:34being available for next week,
02:36we'll see a completely different performance
02:38because he was such a huge, huge miss.
02:42But do you think it was just that?
02:44Because I had a feeling that it was too many of the big players not turned up today.
02:48But I think he's such a crucial part of that team.
02:51And I know Jamie spoke about the spine of Arsenal missing,
02:54the fact that Gabriel and defence is not there,
02:56Partey and then Haberts up front,
02:58Partey being that last piece.
02:59And we saw how crucial he was against Real Madrid.
03:02I think it just impacted the way the likes of Rice played.
03:05Of course, Mourinho not being able to get up front as much.
03:08Who else do you feel didn't show up then?
03:11I think Saka was very, very quiet.
03:14Is that that they kept him quiet or he didn't have a good day?
03:17I think it was a little bit of both.
03:18A little bit of both.
03:19He just looked a little bit tired, if I'm honest.
03:22Right.
03:22When he got the opportunities to actually challenge Mendes,
03:26he just didn't have that extra bit of Saka magic that we've seen before.
03:31But I have to say, we can talk about Arsenal not doing this,
03:35Arsenal not doing that.
03:37I mean, the PSG team.
03:38We've said this for a couple of weeks now.
03:40For me, it is the best team left in the tournament.
03:44They play extraordinarily good football.
03:46OK, they got the early goal.
03:48I think that was really important for the game, how it developed.
03:51But they got the early goal.
03:53And from that moment on, they were in total control.
03:56Maybe Arsenal had like two five-minute spells,
04:00one in the first, one in the second half.
04:02Apart from that, Vitinha in midfield.
04:04Wow, what a performance.
04:05Yeah, hopefully we'll be hearing from Vitinha or someone else from PSG.
04:08Interesting that you made that big call that they're the best team left in the tournament.
04:12When I spoke to John McGinn after Aston Villa had been knocked out,
04:15he said the same thing and said that they just made them run so much.
04:19And they honestly would be feeling it the next day.
04:22So, what do Arsenal need to do next week?
04:26It would be very, very good for them if they got some of their big players back.
04:30So, they had a little bit from the bench.
04:32There's nothing from the bench really today.
04:34When you see what PSG put on Bakula and Ramos,
04:37I mean, that's just a different, it's a different level, you know.
04:43I think they need to, everyone needs to play just a little bit better
04:47than what they did today.
04:50And I think they need to go for it as well.
04:52It was a little bit too conservative for me, but PSG, what a fantastic team.
04:56My favour is to win the tournament.
04:58OK, you said it here.
04:58Well, only one goal in it, Kate.
05:00Hopefully, we'll get some reaction from some of the players shortly.
05:02Thank you very much.
05:03Yeah, we would like that.
05:04Seems a bit like Anita's given up.
05:06Mike has given up on the inside.
05:07I'm not giving up anything.
05:09Jamie, what did you reckon?
05:10What do you think?
05:11How do you think their position 1-0 down going into the second leg in Paris?
05:15It's not over.
05:15And what was important was just my own experience of playing these two-legged tyres.
05:20There's no doubt when the Arsenal players get back to the dressing room,
05:24they'll all be giving each other that look that we've all done as players
05:27where you're thinking they're better than what we thought.
05:29We've played them earlier in the season, beat them 2-0.
05:31I know they play well against Liverpool, but when you beat someone convincingly
05:33like they did earlier in the competition, that stays in your mind.
05:37You're probably going to the game confident.
05:38I felt even before the first, it was the first goal after three or four minutes
05:41they scored, didn't they?
05:42Yeah.
05:42But even in the first couple of the minutes of the game,
05:45we were speaking here thinking, oh, they've just sent a little message to us.
05:48They were keeping the ball and being brave on it
05:50and beating the press and then they got the goal.
05:53And a whole stadium, just everyone, everything drops.
05:57You know, this was not part of the supposed party, if you like.
06:02And the problems they had, they were just getting played around.
06:05We mentioned this before the game, the rotations,
06:08maybe the extra body in midfield.
06:09Arsenal liked to defend 4-4-2 and they all caused real problems.
06:13And this just, the whole atmosphere just goes dead.
06:16But actually, in some ways, if you watch the game back
06:21and after three minutes of PSG, you go 1-0 up
06:24and then you know how the performance goes for the rest of the game
06:27and you say it finished 1-0, it's not the end of the world for them.
06:32And they've just got to hope in some ways that they can bring Paris Saint-Germain down.
06:36Not down to their level.
06:37I think Paris Saint-Germain had a better team now.
06:39But what Paris Saint-Germain did tonight, you know, they are a great team.
06:44But if they play like that at home, they're going to knock Arsenal out.
06:47But Arsenal have just got to stay in the game as long as they possibly can.
06:49And it's all about the first goal.
06:51If they lose the first goal, it's virtually impossible.
06:54If they get the first goal of the game next week, it's game on.
06:57Give us your thoughts on everything that's been said so far.
07:01Well, I'm going to repeat what I said again.
07:03Go ahead.
07:03It's just there because we like to do that on this show.
07:08It's going to be the same thing again.
07:09Like I said, there is another tie.
07:11You never know what's going to happen.
07:12I'm going to use Paris Saint-Germain last year against Barcelona.
07:14Everyone thought he was dead.
07:15Then Araujo gets sent off after, I don't know how many minutes he was.
07:20But then suddenly Paris Saint-Germain go on and win the game really easy away against Barcelona.
07:27Anything can happen.
07:27I said it before.
07:28They didn't score that second goal.
07:30You're still in the tie.
07:31Now I'm going to repeat what I said.
07:33And Paris Saint-Germain were far superior for me in this game.
07:38So a lot needs to be changed in order for Arsenal to make sure that they can beat Paris Saint-Germain over there.
07:43And it's going to be a different ball game.
07:45But as soon as Dembele came out in this game, Paris Saint-Germain dropped a bit more.
07:49It was easier for Arsenal to put pressure because Dembele wasn't coming and getting the ball.
07:53It was a bit different tactically in what Luis Enrique was doing.
07:56He accepted to not have the ball in the last 20 minutes.
07:59But yeah, like I said, you're still in the tie.
08:01Anything can happen.
08:03Just one thing before we go to, I think we've got Hakimi a little bit later on.
08:07You mentioned that they've got no real stars.
08:09What's his first name, Jamie?
08:10What's his first name, Jamie?
08:15He's not listening, is he?
08:17You're a very bad game.
08:19I just remember you avoided it last week.
08:20No, just to go back to the point, you say they've got no superstars.
08:24I know what you meant by the Kylian Mbappe, Messi, that ilk.
08:27But I actually think the right back and the left back are superstars.
08:32I do.
08:32I think Hakimi's different level.
08:34Is he now your favourite right back in the world?
08:36Still top two.
08:37Top two.
08:38Still top two.
08:39Yeah.
08:40I don't want to deviate, you know what I mean?
08:42He's not the best.
08:43I don't want to be reactional.
08:44He's not the best.
08:45He's up there.
08:46It's a matter of opinion.
08:48He's top two.
08:49Like I said before.
08:49He's not the best.
08:50He was magnificent tonight.
08:52All right.
08:54Okay.
08:54Nice try, everybody.
08:55Let's bring you PSG's Ashraf Hakimi because he's over there waiting to speak to us live
09:00from London, from the Emirates Stadium.
09:01Ashraf, can you hear us?
09:03Not yet.
09:03Yeah, we have a little bit of a sound issue, but we're getting there.
09:08Oh, hold on.
09:09I think we're getting there now.
09:11Ashraf, hello, hello.
09:12Testing, testing.
09:12Do you hear us?
09:13No, you look like a rapper.
09:15I hear you.
09:16No, that's good.
09:18Hakimi!
09:19Let's give a round of applause, though.
09:21Come on.
09:22How do you do it?
09:23Oh, Hakimi.
09:24Yeah, he's funny.
09:24Funny guy.
09:26Micah, you're a funny guy.
09:28Funny how?
09:29I see some dance of him before the game.
09:32Ah, as warm-up for the game.
09:35Ah, yeah.
09:35So CBS, the CBS crew is actually helping you prepare for the game.
09:39Yeah, Micah.
09:40Did you know that, Micah?
09:42Oh, what did he say?
09:43It helps him warm up for the game.
09:44Yeah.
09:45In what way?
09:45Yeah, I don't think he meant it.
09:47He's watching us before the game.
09:49We're warming them up.
09:51Oh, wow.
09:52No, I see a video of Michael in TikTok.
09:55I don't know.
09:55The dancing.
09:56Did you see the dancing?
10:00Hakimi, that's why I love you.
10:02I love you so much.
10:04What can I just say?
10:05Honestly, you've been absolutely outstanding this season.
10:09Not just defensively, but offensively as well.
10:12And I just think you're so consistent.
10:14So I just wanted to say congratulations for the match tonight because you were top.
10:19I appreciate it.
10:20We do amazing work.
10:22All the team.
10:23Also, I feel good in the team.
10:25We have a lot of confidence in us and we have to continue like that.
10:31I've just said before you came on here that I consider you to be the favourites to play or to win this tournament.
10:36I think you are the best team, not only left, but I think you are the best team in Europe at the moment.
10:41You've been at PSG for four years now.
10:43You've been through this transition.
10:45What has been the major thing that has changed the perception of you now being the favourites before we thought you were and now you are?
10:54I think the biggest chance is like right now we are like a team.
10:59What does that mean?
11:00I think all the players that they play, also the players that they don't play, we are all together.
11:05We run for each other and we are like a family.
11:09Before it was like different, of course.
11:11And we have big stars, big names, but it was a different thing.
11:17And I think the coach, he did an amazing job with that since he came and he did an amazing job in creating a really good team and also to show how we play in defense and in attack.
11:31Ashraf, it's Thierry.
11:33Just once again, congratulations.
11:35Still another game to go, as you know.
11:37But I wanted to ask you something, obviously.
11:39We see what Luis Enrique does all the time.
11:42You know, the way he asks Dembele to drop and you guys sometimes can go high to fix their back four to make sure that you can free Usman.
11:50And then after you do whatever you want to do.
11:51But one thing that's very important.
11:54Guys here, we all played in semifinals in big games.
11:57But how important it is for you to see guys that are supposed to be technical and the guys that you're supposed to be not helping.
12:06And when you see Gbarash Kelly are running, when you see Desiree Douwe running, when you see Dembele running, that is very contextual.
12:12Contagious, right?
12:13Yes, like you say.
12:15The coaches say we are like 11 attack and 11 defenders.
12:20So when you see your striker, like you say, Usman, Douwe or Cuara or, I don't know, Gonzalo, after that he come running like the first defender,
12:31like they give us power to run also with them and to see we are strong all together.
12:38Ashraf, can I ask you a question about the team with the ball?
12:42You're talking about, you know, different players helping each other.
12:44You've got 11 attackers with the ball and 11 defenders without the ball.
12:48But you all end up in different positions when you have the ball.
12:51Sometimes you're like a striker.
12:53Sometimes one of the midfield players is at fullback.
12:55It's almost like we're watching total football.
12:59Yes, like the coach, what he asks us, also what we're training every day, like the mobility every time to create a space to the other players and to have a space to us.
13:11And that's what we do.
13:12I think sometimes I try to move to create a space to another player to receive in a good position and also them, they do for me.
13:19So that is the connection that we have each other.
13:22We talk about the midfield a lot, Vitinha, Neves and Ruiz.
13:28We can say that's kind of the new thing in the team.
13:32A player like Vitinha today, I'm looking 10 minutes in, I say to the studio, you've got to have a look at him.
13:38Keep an eye on him because he's running the game.
13:40What's it like to play with someone like with that level of energy and such high output?
13:46Yes, it's like amazing.
13:48All the three players that you say, also there are some ones in the bench like Warren and Seney and they're all, they're able to make the difference in the midfield.
14:00And we feel that difference when the midfield is depressed and also they control the ball to give patience to our game.
14:10And that we feel it and it's important for us.
14:13Well, we're halfway there.
14:14Can't wait, I'm in Paris next week.
14:16Can't wait for the second half.
14:17Thank you very much for coming here, talking to us.
14:21Kimi, would you like to see me at the Parc de France?
14:25Yes, I will invite you.
14:27I will like you.
14:27I would like to see you also in person.
14:29Perfect, perfect, perfect.
14:34See you soon.
14:35Thank you so much.
14:36Thanks a lot.
14:39I thought I was going to get a scolding then.
14:41I didn't know if he was being serious.
14:43What did he say when he said I watched you before the game and then he said he danced?
14:45I was like, oh.
14:47You're pushing hard for this Paris trip, aren't you?
14:50I'll go to Paris.
14:50I think it's on the board.
14:51I mean, is there a problem with you and Beckham or something?
14:53Wow.
14:54You're doing your utmost to get out the studio.
14:56I mean, you love being in the studio.
14:58He's getting all the attention.
14:59I don't want to like it.
15:00So I might as well just be out the studio.
15:03I mean, you love the smell of him when he first came in.
15:05I know, yeah.
15:07I'm the other stuff.
15:08I'm the other stuff.
15:10Should we put a poll out on social?
15:13Should we let social decide?
15:14Should we let the people decide?
15:16The people, you can decide.
15:17Should Micah go to Paris?
15:19Yes or no?
15:19The people want to see me in a partner.
15:21Wait, the people might want to know who the alternatives are.
15:23Like, what's the options here?
15:24Well, we just put Beckham there with me.
15:26Oh, interesting.
15:27I mean, that is three Champions League winners.
15:29Del Piero, I think.
15:31What did he say?
15:34I missed it.
15:34Three Champions League winners, he said.
15:36I mean, that's what he said.
15:37It's the Champions League, isn't it?
15:39I think the official other option.
15:41Oh, forward, Peter.
15:42The official other option is Alessandro Del Piero.
15:45Another one?
15:46Another Champions League?
15:48You're winding him off.
15:49No, I'm just saying that's the official option I was given.
15:51You want to get another one?
15:52No.
15:52Don't name names.
15:53That was the official option I was given.
15:55It's time for a break.
15:55Nicky, come on.
15:57Let's go.
15:58We'll be right back in a second, everybody.
16:01We'll be right back in a second, everybody.
16:28Hi, everybody.
16:31Welcome back to London.
16:32Welcome back to our studio show post-match game.
16:34A post-match show, sorry, for the Champions League semi-final.
16:37The first leg between Arsenal and PSG.
16:39PSG with a 1-0 win at the Emirates in that first leg.
16:42So we'll take that one-goal advantage back to Paris for the second leg,
16:46which we played next week.
16:47We saw the goal that Ousmane Dembele scored for PSG just earlier,
16:51just before the break.
16:52So let's just talk about him for a second because his stats, I think,
16:55over this season and particularly over this calendar year are very impressive.
16:58So this is over the season.
17:00He is the fourth top scorer this season in Europe's top five leagues.
17:04If you skip on, though, to 2025, he's top of that list.
17:0725 goals in the calendar year, ahead of Mbappe, ahead of Lewandowski.
17:11Those are impressive numbers.
17:12Yeah, they are.
17:15They are.
17:15And we've all been saying that in France for a very long time.
17:19If Ousmane can finish where he starts, he will be one, if not the best player in the world.
17:24And that's what he's doing only now, which already...
17:27So, sorry for interrupting, Tilly.
17:28Does that mean we are watching the best player in the world right now?
17:31It could be.
17:32Love a headline, don't you?
17:33No, no, no.
17:33It's not what I said.
17:34I said it could be.
17:35So that was in the past.
17:36I'm saying if he does that on a daily basis, I think he can definitely be there.
17:41But this year, when you look at what he's been doing since 2025, he's on top.
17:46And he's on the run to win the treble.
17:49No, I was just going to ask Thierry.
17:52You talk about his finish and improve this year.
17:54But his all-round work rate seems to improve.
17:56Is that a fair...
17:59And we've talked about Mbappe.
18:00No, I'll be honest with you.
18:02He was never a guy that wasn't going to do the job.
18:04Let's all be honest.
18:05Maybe his understanding of the game at the time wasn't the right thing.
18:09The decision-making.
18:09Sometimes he was dribbling when he didn't have to dribble.
18:11Shooting when he didn't have to shoot.
18:13Passing when he had to go.
18:15It just makes it clearer in his mind also.
18:18And maybe because the big man left.
18:20When I'm talking about Kylian Mbappe now, he took it on himself to go like,
18:24OK, that's me now.
18:26I have to be that guy.
18:28But like I said before, that finish, you know how hard that is?
18:31It's very hard.
18:32And I think he hits it with his shin, I think, or something like that.
18:35But it doesn't really matter.
18:36He would have scuffed that before.
18:38Now, more often than not, the ball is on target.
18:41One more question.
18:41How easy is it for players like yourself to adapt?
18:45You played a lot on the left-hand side and then he's playing down the middle.
18:48You talked about Mbappe playing on the left, but not having the same impact through the middle.
18:51He's also playing in a system that allows him to drop.
18:55And we will talk about it maybe next week or maybe talk about it now.
18:59It's the fact that when he goes low to ask for the ball, being back to goal, Neves will always go high.
19:07So technically, he doesn't often have someone behind him and he already knows what's going to happen.
19:12And it's not the ball that you will throw to or kick to Emilewski in his time that no matter how Emilewski would have kept it or Gigi Drogba.
19:19Because there is a mechanism and a pattern of play, he already knows what's supposed to happen and everybody also.
19:26So it's not really, really the same.
19:27But yes, he has that, you know, the capacity of receiving the ball back to goal.
19:32It's one thing to do it when you're on the line, because you know that nobody comes from the line or you know the left back is here, so you know what you're doing.
19:40But inside, if the pattern of play is not right, if you're not used to play in that position, it becomes a tiny bit more difficult.
19:47Or you are Gigi Drogba or Alan Shearer or Emilewski and you will bash people out of the way.
19:52We did mention the fact that PSG could have had more goals.
19:55They thought they should have had a penalty shout.
19:56Let's take a look at this.
19:57Came in the first half, 16th minute of play here.
20:00Yeah, this was Timber up against Varek Schellier and I think the Arsenal man is very lucky.
20:06Once you start getting, you know, it's one of them, he maybe just gets his arm away in time.
20:12Because in slow motion, that looks like he's got hold on, obviously, a lot longer.
20:15But in real time, that would have been really quick.
20:18And to be fair, the referee has got a brilliant angle of it.
20:20It's probably one of them, no matter what happens, you can make an argument for it being a penalty or not being a penalty.
20:25And it's just gone Arsenal's way.
20:27Penalty incidents.
20:28What do we like to do?
20:29We like to bring in our friend, Christina.
20:31Oh, Christina.
20:34I'm liking the hair, Christina.
20:35Looking good.
20:36You go, guys.
20:37Thanks, thanks.
20:39Yeah, you guys know how to make a girl feel good.
20:43Were Arsenal lucky, Christina?
20:44What did you think?
20:46You know, Jamie hit it right on the head.
20:48This is what we consider a great situation.
20:50If a penalty had been given, VAR would not have intervened.
20:54And here, we don't want VAR to intervene.
20:55We want the referee's decision to stand.
20:58And the referee is straight.
20:59He's right on point.
21:00Vincic did the 2024 UEFA Champions final.
21:04And what we're looking for here from a VAR perspective to determine whether it's a clear and obvious error is how long that arm was extended.
21:10Did it really create a full-on brace pushing back in an opposite direction?
21:15Or did it let push back?
21:16The slow-mo makes it look worse than what it is.
21:18But in real life, in real time, the preferred decision would be to no penalty, let the referee's decision stand.
21:24He can feel it.
21:25He can sense it.
21:25He can understand how much of an impact that actual arm extension was.
21:29Wow.
21:31Christina, what an explanation that is.
21:32Yes.
21:33That is marvelous.
21:35Well, Christina, thank you so much.
21:37No arguments.
21:38Wow.
21:39Good to see you.
21:40Silence.
21:40Hey, easiest argument ever.
21:41CBS first.
21:44Thank you very much, love.
21:45We'll see you again soon.
21:45Before we go anywhere, can we just give her her flowers, how she explains things?
21:52She's unbelievable.
21:54Amazing.
21:55Do we all agree?
21:56I agree.
21:56Yes, very much agree.
21:57I think she's...
21:58She's back.
21:59There she is.
22:00She's back.
22:01We're just talking about you, Christina.
22:04She's very good.
22:05She gets to the point.
22:06She gets a lot in in a short amount of time.
22:09Hard to argue with.
22:10Very good.
22:10She's just very direct.
22:12Direct.
22:13Direct.
22:13Whoa.
22:15Ha, ha, ha, direct.
22:18Amazing.
22:18You know what?
22:19You know if there's not a refereeing sort of controversy, we don't use a dude.
22:23What do you mean?
22:24We'll say something doesn't really happen.
22:27We wouldn't bring it in, would we?
22:28She comes in to talk about an incident.
22:30Yes, yeah.
22:31What's the phone call when the incident's happened?
22:33Is it like...
22:34Are they negotiating?
22:35Like, well, how much of a come on or a don't come on?
22:38Interesting.
22:39Good question.
22:40Is she still there?
22:40For a minute.
22:41You know what I mean?
22:42It's an appearance, though, isn't it?
22:43Go ahead.
22:44How does it work?
22:45But I mean, she's the best, so I mean, she can name a price.
22:47Name a price.
22:48Yes.
22:50Put the price up, Christina.
22:52I mean, you might be busy as well.
22:53Yeah, no, I should probably go back to the per appearance fee.
22:56Yeah, I probably should go back to that per appearance fee.
22:58No, it really works out in whether or not it rises to the level that's controversial
23:02enough to talk about.
23:03I thought you meant your wages then.
23:05Rises to the level.
23:10Will we have a good chat?
23:11That's pretty much the conversation.
23:13Is this a good chat, and is it worth picking it apart?
23:16Yeah.
23:16Very interesting.
23:17Good negotiation.
23:18I'd like to listen to that one day.
23:19CBS not a big fan of our conversations about contracts on air, so let's move on anyway.
23:24She's got a little bit of a bounce to go.
23:25Christina, thank you so much.
23:29And I'm in a contract year, so help me.
23:30Christina's not a buzzman.
23:36Yeah, it's all.
23:40Pete, you heard her.
23:41Yeah.
23:42Wow.
23:42Yep.
23:43Okay, so, rest of the highlights.
23:45Let's go through some of the other action here.
23:47Desiree Douai, I believe we're picking up on, Micah.
23:49Yeah, Desiree Douai.
23:50It was a great save from Rhea.
23:52Why do you keep looking when I say Desiree Douai like that, Thierry?
23:55Well, I mean, the save was fantastic.
23:57That second shot was offside.
23:59But just look at the way he adjusts his feet there, Rhea.
24:03Down really quickly, and he gets a strong hand to it.
24:06How many times have you seen goalkeepers position the hand and it goes through it?
24:10But really good save, that one.
24:12And this was another great save.
24:13This time it was from Neves in midfield.
24:15You just think it's going to almost be a certain goal.
24:17I think Moreno in that position.
24:19Obviously, everyone in the stadium wants a penalty, but when you look at it back, great decision.
24:23Look at the referee, he's in a great position.
24:25He's bending down so he can get a better view of it.
24:27And he sees him take the ball really cleanly.
24:29That's the big one for me.
24:30Hakimi left his position.
24:31I don't know why.
24:32Marquinhos finds himself as a right-back.
24:34Great run for Martinelli from a pass from Lewis Kelly.
24:37And I think that's the moment of the game for me.
24:39Because if he does finish that a bit better, then you come back in the tie.
24:441-1, suddenly the stadium is buzzing again.
24:47But then it didn't happen.
24:48You have to give Donnarumar a lot of credit on that.
24:51Way back in the tie, Thierry.
24:53Declan Rice set-piece.
24:54We've seen that before.
24:55And then Moreno thinks he's made it 1-1.
24:57And we said throughout the game, this felt like the biggest opportunity for Arsenal.
25:00Pierce, you were weak defending set-pieces.
25:03But you just see, he was just offside.
25:06It took a while because there were so many bodies involved.
25:08And then they had another chance.
25:11You know what?
25:12I actually thought Trostler did quite well at times today.
25:14I think his touch here just takes it maybe a little bit too wide.
25:18And then he scuffs the ball.
25:20He doesn't get the power which allows Donnarumar to get down.
25:23But it is a great save.
25:26Just the fingertips round the post.
25:28Very good save.
25:28What a top goalkeeper he is.
25:31Eden Barcola, as you can see here, is going to receive the ball from Neves.
25:341-2 with Gonzalo Ramos.
25:35And having him in training, I know he doesn't like to finish there.
25:38As you can see, that's not where he likes to be.
25:41He likes to be on the left, come inside and bend it.
25:45But would it have been offside or not?
25:48I don't know.
25:49But at the end of the day, we don't have to check it.
25:50Because he did not score.
25:52And there was another chance this side, Ramos.
25:54And a lot of these chances come in behind Kivio, who had a really tough night.
25:59He looked a little bit out of his depth, as he did last season against Bayern Munich at this level.
26:04You can see he was just onside, I think.
26:06It's a lovely first touch.
26:07And he decides to toe-poke it.
26:10And Arsenal get away with one.
26:11But I said before the game, I felt he'd missed the spine of the team, Arsenal.
26:16And Gabriel is a big spine, a part of that spine.
26:18And he was really missed.
26:19Yeah, agreed.
26:20And then late doors.
26:22I mean, Martinelli, he's just leaning back.
26:27I don't know what technique he goes for here.
26:29He goes for the far corner.
26:31Mike Richards?
26:31Yeah, basically.
26:34And he just puts too much on it.
26:37And to be honest, he didn't deserve it.
26:38PSG were better.
26:40So, lots more still to come for you on this.
26:42How much longer have we got to go on this?
26:44About another half an hour on this post-game.
26:46And we're going to hear from Mikel Arteta, hopefully, after the match.
26:49We'll also go down to the big screen, break down some of the action for you analytically.
26:53So, we'll be back in just a second.
26:54Stay with us.
26:54Hello, everybody.
27:12Welcome back.
27:13Good to have you still with us.
27:14So, I didn't feel like I was on camera, so I'll make sure I got on camera.
27:18Anyway, we've already looked at the Ousmane Dembele goal that was the difference maker between PSG and Arsenal tonight.
27:23But we wanted to kind of break it down in a little more detail.
27:26Thierry.
27:26So many mistakes.
27:27When you go in with pressure against a team like Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning, which I understand, you've got to be on point.
27:33And you're going to see the first mistake for me is Buka Yosaka.
27:36And now he went to put pressure, which doesn't happen often.
27:39That's Buka Yosaka.
27:40As you're going to see, beginning of the game is Paris Saint-Germain.
27:42They wanted to be on the front foot and put pressure.
27:45Roll it.
27:46And this is what we do.
27:48You're going to stop it in a round here.
27:50Now, guys, we all know.
27:52You can see.
27:53Odegaard is asking for everybody to come.
27:55So, they are coming.
27:56You won't see it now.
27:57But Timber is going to come now with Baraj Kelja.
28:01What you do is you bend your run to make sure that Mendes can only play there.
28:06You can't go and put pressure straight.
28:09Because as a lefty, he will have the possibility to pass that ball inside.
28:14And we will talk about it now with Jamie.
28:17That's the first mistake.
28:18You cannot allow them to play inside.
28:20Bend your run.
28:21Show him the line.
28:22Don't show him inside.
28:23And we highlighted before the game.
28:24We just stopped it now.
28:25Just take a back shot slightly, please.
28:29We highlighted before the game when they played against Liverpool.
28:31Just there.
28:32That's perfect.
28:33Now, the ball from Mendes through the midfield.
28:35Now, we spoke about Arsenal employing a man-to-man pressing system.
28:39So, that's his man.
28:41Terry is right about the angle of run.
28:43But Declan Rice comes across with his man.
28:45Moreno comes across with his man.
28:46And this was always going to be a problem for Arsenal.
28:50They're running across at speed.
28:52Martin Elliott at the top of the pitch.
28:53We see he's walking.
28:54These are the small details that make a difference at this level.
28:57The fact he's walking.
28:58When the ball then comes into Mendes, they can't stop that pass through the midfield.
29:03He's pressing.
29:04They're all coming across.
29:05And there's a huge space there that finds Dembele.
29:08And Martin Elliott is switched off and is walking.
29:10And as that pass comes in, exactly as we saw against Liverpool, there.
29:15As you mentioned, Thierry Dett.
29:16Martin Elliott should be inside.
29:18But he's being walking when the others are running.
29:20And then it creates that space against, as we mentioned before, one of the best players now in world football.
29:26And then when Dembele receives the ball here, you're not going to catch him.
29:29Martin Elliott, as you mentioned, is daydreaming.
29:31Didn't move with his midfielders.
29:33Roll it.
29:34And now, Micah, you've been in that situation so many times as a right back.
29:40What do you think Timber could have done now?
29:43Yeah.
29:43Slow it down.
29:44Slow it down here.
29:45Go on.
29:45Okay.
29:46Come to me.
29:47I'll show you exactly what you want to do.
29:48We know Kravos Keli.
29:49Kravos Keli.
29:50We know he can go both ways.
29:52Okay.
29:52So, as we roll the clip slowly, roll the clip slowly, Timber now should be going towards to engage.
30:00He should be going right towards to engage.
30:02But it goes too slow.
30:04It goes too slow.
30:05It's stopped already now.
30:06So, now, here.
30:07You think it's too far?
30:08It's too far.
30:09Kravos Keli, we know he can go both ways because that's what he does.
30:12If he would have been closer, then you can dictate to him.
30:16You can show him whichever way you want.
30:17Me, personally, because I had the pace and the strength, I always went line.
30:22Worry about anything else after the event.
30:24And as we roll it on slowly now, roll it on, roll it on.
30:29Stop.
30:30Now, he's in the box.
30:32He can't give away a foul.
30:34He can now go both ways.
30:35I'm looking.
30:36He's got up to speed.
30:37Kravos Keli now.
30:38He can go both ways.
30:40And after that, you wanted to mention the position of Declan Rice.
30:43That's the point.
30:43Do you think Declan Rice left his position here to go and help?
30:48Do you think he had to go?
30:50No, I don't think he has to go.
30:51And what you've got to remember is the guy here, Saka, he's always making that position with Timbert a 2v1.
30:58In an ideal world, that is great.
31:00But sometimes defenders have got to be left 1v1.
31:02It is 11v11 on the pitch.
31:04So if you're permanently getting help coming over, something is getting missed.
31:08Now, Declan Rice, as a whole midfield player, should not be vacating that area in there.
31:13He just shouldn't.
31:14And he's got to allow him to do his job.
31:15He's with him at the beginning, by the way.
31:17He's with him at the beginning.
31:18Exactly.
31:18So he runs from here to help.
31:21And that just creates that space.
31:22And these are the areas exactly where you want you're holding the field place.
31:26The second six-yard box, if you like.
31:28These areas for full-backs and players coming onto the ball.
31:31And clever players will see that.
31:33You leave your position.
31:35Ouspen Dembele is alone.
31:36And don't take anything away from that finish.
31:38It's an outstanding finish.
31:39But, Kate, we went into details there of how you can be opened up by an outstanding team
31:46if you're not on point with every single details.
31:49And, by the way, at the beginning of the game, that's too early to get caught like that.
31:53But they did get caught.
31:54And it means a 1-0 loss for Arsenal in this first leg.
31:57I think we can hear from Mikel Arteta.
31:59Can we speak to Anita Jones over there at the Emirates?
32:02Mikel, halfway into this tie, you faced this PSG side back in October.
32:09They seemed like a completely different team.
32:11What do you feel was different today?
32:13Halftime.
32:14It's halftime.
32:14It's the same message against Real Madrid after we beat them 3-0.
32:18We need to go to Paris and win the game.
32:20Today, the margins were very small.
32:22I think they started the game better for two reasons.
32:24The first one, because they get out of our press after a lot of passes and sequences,
32:29which is their talent.
32:30And then the individual quality decided the first goal.
32:33After we have some issues, especially what we did after regaining the ball,
32:37which against them is a key moment as well.
32:39And then the team started to be better, better and better.
32:41We have two massive chances, 1v1 chances.
32:44And at this level, the keepers and the boxes made the difference.
32:47And he certainly did tonight, not to see a different result.
32:51But how do you feel this PSG side has grown since that October game?
32:54Because along the way, they've knocked out three Premier League sides in Manchester City,
32:58Liverpool and most recently Aston Villa.
33:00Well, it's clear they're very consistent.
33:02They go to the end of the season in April with all the players and the squad available at their best.
33:09And when you get to April, it's very important to have this.
33:11How much do you need those Arsenal fans next week at Parc des Princes?
33:16Of course, we saw the support at Del Bernabéu back in the last stage of the competition.
33:22Next week, they go again, right?
33:23They are for sure.
33:24We're going to go with the same mentality to go there and win the game.
33:27We will tweak a few things and be better in a few things.
33:30And then we're going to have to be ruthless in front of goal in the boxes in the Champions League.
33:34You know that the games are going to be decided there,
33:36like it was decided when they played Liverpool and Villa.
33:40Good luck next week.
33:41Thanks, Anita.
33:41Yes, yes, Miquel.
33:44Interesting from Miquel.
33:45Anything anybody particularly would like to respond to?
33:47No, look, you know, I like what he says because he said the same thing after Madrid,
33:52after the win, sorry, the 3-0 win.
33:56He said that it's still a game to go.
33:59Obviously, you're going to say that after a defeat to make it look a bit better.
34:02It's just the way.
34:02But as a coach, that's what you're trying to do.
34:04You're trying to speak to your team already because you know things are going to go on social media.
34:09You know they might be looking at what the boss is saying.
34:11Is he going to talk about a player specifically?
34:14How we played?
34:15Did we play well or not well?
34:16He's already thinking about the return leg.
34:18He's trying to motivate the troops already and stay calm.
34:21And you will always somehow in this type of situation raise the good things.
34:27So if you sit here and you hear the coach at the end of the game, sometimes you're like,
34:30oh, come on, he didn't watch the same game that I watched.
34:32But he's technically talking to his team, kind of thinking we are 2-1 v-1.
34:38At one point they struggled against us.
34:40That's just a normal behavior as a coach.
34:43And he has to put some belief back into the team to go and play that return leg.
34:47That's for sure.
34:53You see, these are the sort of mistakes we make when we've got too much time.
34:59In the pre-match, bing, bam, boom, no problem.
35:03Here.
35:04Come on.
35:04I was just going to say, Mikel Arteta, the thing that stood out for me is what we've just highlighted.
35:08The pressing strategy at the start of the game, PSG were too good for it.
35:11So he's got to come up with a different plan, how he deals with PSG being on the ball next week.
35:16Because they will be, certainly being at home for the majority of the game,
35:18will have a lot of the ball.
35:19And he's got to come up with something different for them to have the opportunity
35:22to win the ball back and go and counter-attack.
35:24Well, if we were on our bing, bang, boom pre-game rhythm,
35:27then we wouldn't have had time to create a poll, would we, Micah,
35:30to figure out whether you should go to Paris?
35:33Should Micah Richards go to Paris?
35:35Oh, that one.
35:36Oh, yeah.
35:37We should bring that poll back too.
35:39Who wore it better?
35:40Obviously, it's you.
35:41In the pre-game.
35:42No, the poll about whether you should go to Paris for the second legs.
35:45Here we go.
35:46We're here.
35:50How many people have actually voted?
35:53Do we know how many people have voted?
35:58Is that a fake one?
35:59No, it's real.
36:00Apparently it's real.
36:02It's not over yet, though.
36:03Micah.
36:03It's early days.
36:04Early days.
36:05Early days.
36:05Okay.
36:07David Beckham, by the way.
36:08We've talked about that a little bit because David Beckham could potentially replace you
36:12if you go to Paris.
36:13But we should probably just kind of give people a fuller picture of what's going on next
36:16week with these return legs and with David Beckham's new show.
36:18So next week, of course, you will see the return of the Champions League semifinals.
36:23Paramount Plus is offering you an exciting new option to second screen both of the matches
36:28coming up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
36:30So yes, next Tuesday, the latest Champions League winner on the CBS team, David Beckham,
36:35debuts his new watch-along show, Beckham and Friends.
36:39Plenty of surprise guests, David's friends.
36:42Yes.
36:42Unique Insight and Analysis.
36:45Don't you know more about it?
36:46What do you mean?
36:47I'm not a champion.
36:47I'm not a winner.
36:48You're going to be in it.
36:48Wait.
36:49I do know a little bit more.
36:50You can stream it next Tuesday.
36:51That's what I'm saying.
36:52At 3pm Eastern on Paramount Plus.
36:55Who's going to be there?
36:55That, I do not know.
36:57Tune in and find out.
36:58Can I stream it from Paris?
37:01Ah, not legally.
37:03Sort us out in Dodgy Box.
37:06What are you looking at?
37:07I can't wait to see.
37:08Is that Arsenal PSG?
37:09No, that is a picture of my son.
37:12Yes, I thought so.
37:13What's he doing?
37:14With the captain's armband.
37:15Uh-huh.
37:15For Wigan tonight.
37:16Did you 1-1 away?
37:18Get it on camera.
37:19Yeah, okay, no problem.
37:20You've got the best mark as well.
37:22We've done the misses.
37:23We should include you, son.
37:24He's hugging the goal scorer.
37:25He's got a nice little 1-1 draw.
37:27Captain's armband on the left bicep.
37:30He's better looking than you, isn't he?
37:31Yeah, he is, yeah.
37:32I mean, his mother's part of him as well.
37:35And the, what's it called?
37:38What are them score things?
37:38What are them score?
37:39What do you mean?
37:40What scores?
37:40You know when you follow, get the scores.
37:42Player ratings.
37:43Yeah, he got mad at them.
37:44All right, we're going to go to a very quick break.
37:49We will be back again.
37:51We've got another few minutes still to come for you here on Paramount+.
37:53Stay with us.
37:54What are the sports?
38:08This weekend, the PGA Tour stops at TPC Craig Ranch, where Scotty Scheffler headlines a field
38:17competing in the CJ Cup, Byron Nelson.
38:19Our live coverage for you begins on Saturday and on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern on CBS and streaming
38:25on Paramount+.
38:27If you're a golf fan, you know where to go.
38:29In the meantime, welcome along to our show here from London.
38:32What's going on?
38:33Oh, yeah.
38:33Some dancers over there.
38:34We're vibing is the word I was looking for.
38:37Sorry.
38:37I was going to say jiving, which sounds very old school.
38:40Anita!
38:40Let's take you out to the Emirates.
38:42Peter and Anita.
38:43One final time we get to say hello to you this evening.
38:46Any final thoughts you'd like to share with us?
38:49Definitely.
38:49I think Peter's pep talk, who's Jean-Lucy Donnarumma, did wonders today.
38:54Could you remind everyone at home what it was you've actually said to him before the game?
38:56I said to him, this is going to be a game of set pieces, so come out and smash everybody.
39:01Just come out.
39:02And I actually think he did quite well with that.
39:04But, I mean, he made two incredible saves.
39:08And we talked about those big moments in the semifinal.
39:11That's a really good save.
39:13I mean, he's clean in.
39:16I mean, you can talk about maybe he should have had on his left foot.
39:19But this, this for me, that is such a good save.
39:24It's so difficult when they come in at that pace and it's hit exactly towards that back stick
39:30to get down as quickly as he gets down.
39:34And, see, there you go.
39:35It seemed like you said much more to him than that.
39:37What language do you guys speak, Peter?
39:39Sorry?
39:40What language do you guys speak?
39:41Yeah, see, that's a funny thing.
39:42I absolutely love what social media did with the interview that we did.
39:46Because literally everything that was written in that social media clip was exactly what
39:52I was thinking when we were doing it.
39:53I was really surprised because we speak English together.
39:57He's very good at English.
39:58And then he answered in the tie.
40:00And I'm like, OK.
40:01Maybe it doesn't sound like you're English.
40:02I don't know.
40:02But anyway, we're only halfway in the tie, which is good for Arsenal fans.
40:07There's still a chance to turn it around.
40:08And you and me are actually going to go to that second time.
40:10It's Peter and Anita in Paris.
40:12And what about Micah?
40:14Not Micah.
40:15Please, everybody, please.
40:17Go back to social media.
40:21Vote and vote no.
40:24Why do you want me there?
40:25Why do you want me there?
40:25Next season, you and me can go on the road to another game, OK?
40:28A minute ago, Peter wanted to show you the ropes.
40:30What's happened?
40:31What's the switch?
40:31I don't know.
40:32What happened?
40:32What's the switch?
40:33I like you, Micah, a lot.
40:34But you can't break this team up.
40:36That's what's going to happen.
40:37Oh, the dream team.
40:38You can't break it up, you know?
40:40That's our trip.
40:42Fair enough.
40:43We're doing a great job together.
40:44Peter and Anita, we will see you next week.
40:46Thank you so much.
40:47With or without Micah, we'll find out.
40:49Thanks, Peter and Anita.
40:50Thank you, thank you.
40:52OK.
40:53We're going to go to a very quick break.
40:55We've still got another segment to go.
40:57Another one or two.
40:58Two segments.
41:00Yes.
41:00What have we got to talk about?
41:01Two.
41:02You should get paid for a segment.
41:03LAUGHTER
41:04LAUGHTER
41:05LAUGHTER
41:35Barcelona at home against Inter Milan, first leg of their semi-final.
41:53Ooh, I'm excited for this one, yes!
41:56What? Ooh, it's going to be good.
42:00We said 50-50 for PSG Arsenal, Arsenal-PSG.
42:05What do we think on this one?
42:06I had Inter to go through on my brackets all the way to the final,
42:09but after watching them in the last round against Bayern Munich,
42:13I'm not so sure now. I think Barcelona will give them two.
42:16So, long story short, what's the percentage?
42:18I'm going 75% Bachelorette.
42:20Ooh! Bachelorette, how do you say Bachelorette?
42:22No, it's not how you say it.
42:24It sounds special, no?
42:25I go 60-40 Barcelona.
42:27Mm. TT?
42:30With the last three results of Inter and the way they've been playing
42:32and struggling to cope, to play on three different competitions.
42:37You can see that they're at the end of the season and they look really tired.
42:41They lost, as I said, their last three games.
42:44Turam didn't play, they didn't score a goal, they conceded a lot.
42:47But that's the Inter that I didn't recognise, in all fairness.
42:52So, just because of what happened recently and how they are and how tired they looked,
42:56you know, Barcelona coming on high of winning the Copa del Rey,
43:00you would like to think that Barcelona is going to go through.
43:02And from being one of the favourites at the very beginning,
43:05you look at Inter right now and they look very, very vulnerable.
43:09Mm.
43:10Oh, are you giggling about...
43:12What's got your...
43:14Nothing.
43:15Anyway, OK, let's talk about the poll.
43:17Let's bring that up one last time.
43:18Oh, yes.
43:19We're almost out of time here.
43:2080% of people think that Micah should go to Paris.
43:25How are you actually going?
43:26Monstou, pas de problĂšme.
43:28Sorry?
43:29Monstou?
43:32Sorry?
43:33Pas de problĂšme?
43:34What did you say before?
43:35Monstou.
43:36It's a vegetable.
43:38No, no, whatever.
43:4024 hours to vote.
43:42Let's say no.
43:43Ça va, ça va?
43:44Oui.
43:45Et toi?
43:46Oh.
43:47He said, uh.
43:48TrĂšs bien, merci.
43:49Vous, monsieur?
43:50Oui, ça va, merci.
43:51TrĂšs bien.
43:52Bonnet de douche.
43:55Bonnet de douche.
43:57Bonnet de douche.
43:58Why is that what you learnt?
43:59Only fills nos...
44:01Yeah, only fills.
44:02But they have only fills nos in America?
44:04No.
44:05Honestly?
44:06No, they don't.
44:07They're probably the most famous sitcom in this country.
44:10You're aware of that, aren't you?
44:11Aware of it, yes.
44:12Aware of it, yes.
44:13You do Frederic School?
44:14Yes.
44:15Je beat, je beat, uh, at Leeds?
44:17I learnt, there's two phrases I learnt.
44:19Je m'appelle, that's my name, isn't it?
44:21Collage, too?
44:22And je voudrais, which is I like.
44:24Je voudrais.
44:25And then I just say what I like.
44:27Like, for example?
44:28Je voudrais.
44:29Je voudrais, nickel et karga.
44:31Oh, wow.
44:32That's a different ballgame.
44:34Man, we've had your daughter on the show.
44:36We've mentioned your son tonight.
44:37We've bigged up Nicola as well.
44:38Any other family members you'd like to shout out?
44:40My dad.
44:41Your dad?
44:42Go ahead.
44:43My dad watches the show.
44:44Oh.
44:45Daddy?
44:46Give him a message.
44:47Is your dad a fan of us?
44:48Yeah, he loves us.
44:49Does he?
44:50He'll be on the way back from Burton.
44:51Okay.
44:52Watching his grandson.
44:53Daddy?
44:54What's his name?
45:00That is actually a sore subject.
45:02Oh, wow.
45:03What do you mean?
45:04That's not bad.
45:05My dad's had a few aliases.
45:06No, but Israel is...
45:08A few passports.
45:10Easy.
45:11He's called Philly, but his name's Gary.
45:14Okay.
45:15Yeah.
45:16All right.
45:17Do you want to explain?
45:18Well, on his pass, his name's Gary Philip Carragher,
45:20but he's always not been known as Philly Carragher.
45:22But at different times, for different reasons,
45:24he's had different names.
45:25Mmm.
45:26We'll leave it there, I think.
45:27Yeah, I think, yeah.
45:30Well, anyway, on that note,
45:33that was fun to learn about your family.
45:34I enjoyed that.
45:35Philly Carragher, thanks for watching.
45:37We always enjoyed having you part of the show.
45:39Au revoir.
45:40What did he say?
45:41Au revoir.
45:42Why are you so aggressive?
45:43Au revoir.
45:44Goodbye, everybody.
45:45Au revoir.
45:46Thanks for watching.
45:47We will see you tomorrow.
45:48Barcelona at home against Inter.
45:49It's going to be a good one.
45:50We'll see you for that.
45:51Bye.
45:52Bye.
45:53Bye.
45:54Bye.
45:55Bye.
