00:06Asian Tiger status. So I believe such vision still holds water for our future generations.

00:14Just that we need to recalibrate our positioning in terms of focus areas, what sector or industry

00:21should we focus on and what kind of value system we want all Malaysians to embrace and what kind

00:27of unity program that we like to inculcate at all levels of society, especially education.

00:32So all these policy ingredients must be cooked by a prime minister who has that kind of vision.

00:40A vision that could rally all Malaysians regardless of creed, race and religion.

00:46The term Asian Tigers was popularly used in the 1980s and 1990s to describe the fast growing

00:52economies of Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, all of which have since achieved high

00:57income status. Malaysia was tipped to be the fifth Asian Tiger, but its economic growth was derailed

01:03by the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Wan Faizal said Malaysia checks all the boxes to achieve

01:09high income status, pointing to the country's strategic location at the heart of ASEAN,

01:13its relative immunity to major natural disasters, and its rich tapestry of diverse cultures and traditions.

01:20We can punch above our weight as long as we stick to our reform agenda. It has to be a sincere

01:27reform agenda, not driven by political expediency. It has to be democratically inclusive, meaning to say

01:36it involves everyone, not just the royalties, not just the politician, but also every single rakyat who pay tax.
