00:00War is hell, and sometimes that hell endures more than half a century buried here on a beach in
00:06Western Europe. This video was recently captured on a beach in Coxsaita in Belgium, and this is
00:11the moment authorities detonated a bomb that has remained dormant in this very spot since the
00:161940s. The bomb landed here during the Second World War, dropped from an airplane. However,
00:22it never blew up. Authorities say it weighed some 220 pounds, adding that fines like these
00:27are not uncommon. During the Second World War, millions of bombs were dropped all over Europe.
00:32In fact, there were two fines just like this one in the UK last year, one on a beach in Essex,
00:38and another which exploded during the disarming process in Great Yarmouth. However, there have
00:42been thousands of others discovered and disarmed or detonated all over Europe since the end of World
00:47War II, with this most recent one on a beach no doubt frequented by locals during the summer months,
00:52revealing just how enduring the effects of war really are. A stark reminder amidst a world
00:57currently experiencing myriad conflicts.
