Hundreds of Manila residents are homeless after a devastating fire spread across a portside settlement in the Philippines capital.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours on Wednesday, destroying around 500 shanty homes in the community.

It was finally put out nine hours later. Many of those affected say they've lost everything.
