00:00A medical assistant at a Malacca Health Department district office has been remanded for seven days

00:13on suspicion of submitting false statements amounting to 1.5 million ringgit.

00:18The offence was allegedly committed by the 47-year-old suspect in relation to the procurement of equipment

00:25and non-medical supplies, although the supplies were not fully delivered.

00:30It is understood that the suspect was responsible for approving the procurement to a contractor.

00:37However, he allegedly took the entire sum of 1.5 million ringgit from the contractor

00:42and purchased goods through an e-commerce platform, which did not meet the required quality standards.

00:48According to sources, the suspect was arrested at approximately 2.28 p.m. on Tuesday

00:56while he was present at the Malacca MACC headquarters in Alai to have his statement recorded.
