03:17The study apparently goes on to say that celebrity worship and cognitive skills have been revisited, and there is a theory.
03:32The study asked 1,763 adults to undertake a 30-word vocabulary test and a digit-symbol substitution test before completing a celebrity attitude scale, a questionnaire to determine their levels of interest in famous people.
03:51And participants had to answer yes or no to a series of statements on the celebrity attitude scale, including, I often feel compelled to learn the personal habits of my favorite celebrity.
04:04I mean, this is really easy to understand.
04:07It's very basic stuff.
04:08It's not like, you know, really in the weeds, scientific psychology stuff.
04:13It's like, essentially, that I'm really, really interested in what my favorite celebrity does.
04:19So, if you tick these boxes of having a certain level of interest in celebrities, then you qualify.
04:27But they found that the correlation was that those individuals that were obsessed with all the details of their favorite celebrities' lives,
04:39that the higher the score on the celebrity attitude scale, meaning that you're really into these celebrities and you want to know everything about them,
04:48they found that it meant that you had lower scores on cognitive ability tests.
04:55So, the less you were interested in celebrities, the higher your scores were.
05:03So, the determination is, is people that are really into celebrities and they cling on the latest stuff.
