00:00Tampa Bay's morning crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.

00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.

00:10We've got Dana on the phone for Military Monday. She is honoring her husband today.

00:14Good morning, Dana. How are you doing?

00:16Good morning. How are you?

00:17We are great. We are excited to talk about William. Tell us about his service for our country.

00:21Well, he joined in 2009 and he served about 11 years now in active duty and in the reserve.

00:31And he's in the Army?

00:32Yes.

00:32And now he's retired or he's still in the Army?

00:35No, he actually separated from the military. He was in the reserves for a while and now he is a deputy.

00:41Oh my gosh. He went from military to first responder. I love it.

00:45Oh yeah.

00:46So what do you think drew him to this line of work? Tell me, what do you think makes him great at his job?

00:52He actually just has like a really big heart. He's just, you know, he's out there and he's trying to make a difference in the community

00:59and kind of change the view of law enforcement out there too. But the military, he loves the military.

01:06He's always, since he was a little boy, he always grew up and always wanted to be a soldier.

01:10And he was always playing with the little Army men when he was little.

01:14I love that. And tell me about how you guys came together.

01:18Oh gosh. I met him through a friend and I was, I had two kids and he basically just took us on.

01:25And I told him, I said, don't you, don't get involved in this. Go live your life.

01:30Don't get involved with a mom with two kids. And he's like, nope, I'm staying. You're my it.

01:35Oh, that's awesome. What a guy. I love that. And how long have you guys been married for?

01:40Going on 10 years now.

01:41Going on 10 years. This is so cool. I love this.

01:44And he was only 23 years old when you guys met?

01:46Yep.

01:47Oh my gosh.

01:48I told him, I said, don't get involved in this. Go live.

01:50No, come on, Dana. Give yourself more credit than that. That is great.

01:53What is something that you guys like to do as a family when you guys aren't working?

01:58We like to go kayaking. We go up to Wiki Watch and go kayaking down there and go through the Manatee.

02:02Oh, I have not done that yet. I got to go up there and do that for sure.

02:06That sounds like a fun thing.

02:07I have one more question. I want to know what your kids would say about your husband.

02:12Oh, gosh. Well, on a good day when they're not doing that about homework.

02:18Well, Dana, let's try to keep this positive today.

02:21No, but like, you know, obviously they probably look up to him, right?

02:24Oh, yeah, they do. They really do look up to him.

02:27They love him just like a biological father.

02:30And I think they really kind of take to him as a role model.

02:34I mean, it's great. I just I love hearing the story and I love how your family came together.

02:39And we're so thankful for William's service.

02:42And we know that being, you know, a wife of a deputy can be very stressful and worrisome for you.

02:49So we just want to thank you for reaching out to us today.
