00:00If I were to be elected back into Parliament, I would like to be on my own merit.
00:05For the past few weeks, I've been working in the Jalan Kayu and Fernvale neighbourhoods,
00:10just visiting homes, catching up with residents at the void decks
00:15and just having good conversations with them at the coffee shops and the community spaces.
00:21These conversations have given me a much better sense of what matters to the residents of Jalan Kayu SMC.
00:29Many residents have opened up to me and shared with me about their hopes for the children,
00:35their concerns for the aged parents and simply their aspirations for a better life.
00:41One thing out of these few weeks is clear to me, residents in Jalan Kayu SMC want someone who listens
00:50and is prepared to take real action to help them build a better home.
00:55I'm stepping forward in this general election because I want to serve.
01:00My public service has always been about people.
01:03In my own NQC story that SM has mentioned somewhat, I fought for workers in difficult times like Covid or in peacetime.
01:14Some have asked me in my interactions, why return to politics after the last election.
01:23My answer is a simple one, because I've never stopped caring.
01:27If given the opportunity to represent Jalan Kayu SMC, I will do my best to improve the lives of residents,
01:33whether it is better facilities for children, better transport connectivity or more accessible sports facilities.
01:43So let me humbly say this to the residents of Jalan Kayu SMC.
01:48Let us work together to upgrade our estates in Fernvale and Jalan Kayu,
01:53build vibrant corners where friendships can grow and strengthen our care networks.
02:00I humbly ask for your trust to walk this journey with you.
02:04Your hopes, your ideas, even your struggles, they all matter deeply to me.
02:10Let's build a Jalan Kayu SMC that is kinder, stronger and more inclusive.
