00:00in this video we are going to be going over how you can convert a lead successfully once you have
00:11progressed them through the right stages and it is now at a point where you can potentially start
00:18to think about a deal associated with them and move them along the journey so right now i am on
00:28a lead record page within the leads tab and after selecting a particular lead as you can see the
00:38current stage is marked as working and i have captured sufficient information that i'm happy
00:45with and learned that there might now be a potential for a deal so this lead particularly
00:51is for julie mann and she works at fast cars so in order to convert a lead i can simply click this
01:01converted button up on the stages and select converted status as soon as i click that button i'm brought to
01:11this new view so when a lead is converted in salesforce it basically splits the information
01:20so the organizational information into an account and the contact or the personal information
01:28into a contact in addition it also gives you the option to create an opportunity basically we what we
01:36call a deal in salesforce however with this little check box at the bottom you can choose not to create
01:45an opportunity while converting a lead as well so now let's say i want to convert this lead into an account
01:56contact as well as an opportunity i can see that salesforce has already populated the information which it has
02:04identified for each so if we're looking specifically at the account it's already populated the account name
02:12and the record type now the record type is basically the type of account that we want to create whether
02:18it's an agency or an advertiser or some other for this i'm going to go ahead with advertiser
02:27now the best practice before creating an account or a contact is to always first check the system
02:34for any duplicates so by clicking choose existing and maybe typing in fast
02:43i can see that it hasn't identified any duplicates in the system so after a quick check i'm ready to
02:50create this new account i can choose to do the same for the contact simply search
02:58and see that there's nothing related to it so i'll go back and create a new one for that as well
03:07similar to the account i can also choose the record type for the contact if this contact is basically
03:14associated with an advertiser or an agency again since the account is an advertiser i'm going to create
03:20the contact for an advertiser as well and the opportunity will automatically be renamed when
03:29you create and fill in existing information so no need to worry about uh naming the opportunity
03:36correctly at this stage if you just want to create it simply leave it as it is uh and then you should
03:43be good to go ahead and click convert so as soon as i do that you'll be getting a pop-up similar to this
03:57telling you that you now have a new account a contact as well as an opportunity for the lead that you have
04:06just converted successfully
04:08so if i go to the account page that i just created i can see that there's already some
04:20information that has been populated that is being carried over from the lead that you were working on
04:27such as the industry sub-industry market etc same for contacts you can see some of the information has
04:35already copied over but now it has been separated into a contact of its own and also for the opportunity
04:44where it's been already populated with some information that it has identified and carried over
04:50somewhere so hope that was helpful thank you
