00:00Hi, in this video, we are going to go over how to create a contact as well as update any contact information.
00:10So to start off with, there are two ways that you can create a contact in Salesforce.
00:17The first is when you convert a lead into an account and a contact, and we've gone over this in a previous video related to lead conversion.
00:27The second way to create a contact is to do it independently of a lead.
00:33And this is what we are going to focus on for this video.
00:37So when you have to create a contact, think of accounts as sort of like the backbone of which a contact is created.
00:47So currently, let's jumping into Salesforce, I'm on an account record.
00:52And you can see on the top right corner, we have a create contact button.
01:00So in order to create a contact directly from this account, and in order to associate a contact to this account automatically, we can go to the account page and hit the create contact button in the top right corner.
01:17So let's see what that looks like as soon as I created, you can see the account name is already populated with the name of my account and the relationship has already been established between the account and we're trying to create someone who works at this company.
01:35So we'll go ahead and fill in some other information.
01:47I'll include an email as well.
01:50And we are good to go click save and Julie has now been created as a contact.
02:03If I click on the link or search her up through the contacts tab, I can see I already have her information and she is associated with the account in question.
02:14So jumping back to the account, if I hit the related tab, I can see that Julie Somburg is now listed as a related contact for this account.
02:29Again, this helps to build the 360 degree view and for you to quickly see at a glance what contacts are associated from a particular account page.
02:40So I'll jump back into the contact record.
02:45Now, let's say we have found or discovered some new information related to this contact.
02:50Again, in order to edit contact information or add new ones, we can click edit in the top right corner or simply click the pencil icon beside any field.
03:02So let's say Julie is the director of sales at this company.
03:07And let's say I want to edit the information that was already present.
03:14So I'll do both of those changes, click save, and the information is updated instantly.
