00:00we joke around a lot that my dad looks a little bit like rod stewart yes he gets that sometimes

00:08when he's out people stopped him in vegas wanting to take pictures with him um but this is a reason

00:13where you'll want to hang out with the real rod stewart chuck okay believe it or not for 23 years

00:20rod stewart has been building a model railway and he finally finished yes oh my god 23 years look

00:26look at how happy he is look he spent 23 years creating an imaginary city in the attic of his

00:32los angeles mansion complete with intricate details and 100 feet of railroad tracks no one knew he was

00:38up to this he revealed his secret passion interview uh in a with an interview with the railway modeler

00:46magazine oh yeah subscribes to i have it he said 100 feet rod at times he'd even take this on tour

00:53with him just bits of it he'd work on skyscrapers and other scenery parts i have three while he

00:58was on tour look at the city the building it's amazing the detail in this they it really this

01:11what this is yeah it looks like it's new it took me a second i'm like is that a real picture of new

01:16york and then i went oh my god create a city and all those little people they're like lead

01:21how does he resist not playing godzilla and going in and smashing it because he spent 23 years

01:27building it oh look how nice it looks i mean it looks like a hollywood set it absolutely does they

01:32could use it for a miniature scale i have a friend that has one like this like i know a guy who has

01:38one like this and i'm like wow wow so rod this whole basement rod stewart city is so intricate it's

01:48that he made sure every pavement stone in town is a slightly different color he used black chalk

01:53to create cracks and even put fake garbage in the gutters as for the roots and how this all started

01:58he recalls seeing a model railway in a window display when he was growing up in england and he

02:03wondered how he could get paid to build one patience 23 years making this whole town and he's very

02:08impressed by rod that's just so bizarre the guy used to be like one of those like sexual deviance of

02:16the 70s and yeah that's how you know that you're real sexual his 23-year passion he's like

02:2123 years millions of dollars this guy had he's banged everybody in that show

02:29just shows you what life's all about it's gonna stop all that poon means nothing you know what

02:41means something that train that you walk by when you're eight years old none of those supermodels

02:48yeah i'm trying to see how many trains he has so he's got one two three four

03:09i know i've got about i've got six of them so i don't know rod you should be an inspiration to

03:16model train enthusiasts come on rod i've got six i mean you only got 100 feet i've got probably at

03:22least 300 feet of track i i've got at least 300 feet

03:29this guy so he finished singing if you want my body this whole time he's dancing he's actually

03:39thinking about trains

03:40he's actually this whole thing is he's singing to a train oh my god he couldn't have been into

03:52trains at that moment he was into trains look at him he said he's from eight years old

03:56the amount of times my dad is saying this to my mother oh i'll say this you guys have no idea

04:04what i'm gonna do by the time i'm as old as rod stewart do you know you don't think i'm gonna build

04:09some kind of my own city please you can stay committed to it that long oh i'll be old at that

04:15point i won't be able to do all the other stuff yeah it's true well if you want to read more about

04:25think that rod did any of this you think you just paid somebody for oh i think so i think he paid

04:32people 23 years duty then that he has the worst workers ever i think that's his passion is to build

04:41he got back that's incredible it's so hard like i have many many pieces to make my own city already but

04:49i do i have a tremendous amount many pieces to make my own city i have half a city we have to

04:57understand i in basically inherited someone else's city yeah from the 50s so you're building

05:05so i could it's in boxes it's in boxes and i don't even know if all of it works still i

05:12everything i've tested still works but i it takes a lot it takes 23 years and you have to have

05:20leather pants so and you got both so you're good to go crazy yeah see he's like there he is yeah

05:26that's like that was trains i can't wait yeah he had like two different kinds of trains he would

05:32have supermodel trains oh yeah and then yeah he's in all the trains oh wow well there you go chuck
