02:25it's you guys are on motorcycles,
02:26and Dax, you're a motorcycle rider.

02:33I'm a trailer enthusiast,

02:43because he had never even sat on a motorcycle
02:44four weeks before we started shooting,
02:46and I had him on the highway driving, like,
02:4880, doing four pages of dialogue.
02:50So that was not safe at all.

02:54I'll tell you,
02:54this one time,
02:55we did have him on a trailer at one point,
02:58and I noticed riding next to him
03:00that the trailer wheel was about to rip off.
03:03Like, it was wobbling terribly bad,

03:07And pull over.
03:07Yeah, and the wheel,
03:08they just pulled it right off,
03:09and I go,
03:09Dude, I saved your life.

03:11Yeah, yeah, thanks, man.

03:13But I also put you in this situation,
03:15so it's kind of a push.
03:18It's like I risked his life just to save it.
03:22So we're talking earlier about the fact that,
03:24you know,
03:24nostalgia is huge right now,
03:25but do you think that,
03:27I think a lot of people that go see this movie
03:29won't even know what Chip's in.
03:31Oh, we know.
03:32Most people won't.
03:32Yeah, we have the data on that,
03:34and it's scary low,
03:36how few young people know about it.
03:38You know,
03:39the primary audience of,
03:40the movie-going audience is 18 to 25,
03:42and only 16% of them have ever heard of Chip's,
03:45much less do they know what it's about,
03:47you know?

03:48But that,
03:49The whole experience is a daily reminder
03:51of how old I am,
03:52which is great.
03:53Chuck had the whole Chip's thing.

03:57when I was little,
03:58I had the Chip's helmet.

04:13It was totally awesome.

04:18but it was just like a cool motorcycle show to me,

04:22for me,
04:22the magic ingredients that made Chip's enjoyable for me
04:26were,
04:26it was set in California,
04:27and I lived in gray Michigan.
04:29So, like,
04:29middle of winter to see people on the beach in bikinis.
04:32And then,
04:33yeah,
04:33motorcycles.
04:34It was the only show on TV with motorcycles.
04:36And then it was two dudes,
04:37a kind of unlikely pair,
04:38a Latino and a tall,
04:39goofy white dude,
04:40as best friends.
04:42That was the stuff that I remember that I was,
04:45that appealed to me about it.
04:46And that's what,
04:47those are the elements we maintain in this movie.
04:49Other than that,
04:50it's,
04:50you know,
04:51totally updated,
04:52hard R,
04:52kind of bad boy style comedy.

04:55And it was an event for us
04:56because there was a Latin guy on television
04:58with the whitest teeth we've ever seen.
