I'm talking to you because you and the lottery winners are coming to Lippon Festival.
00:04
Can I start, Tom, by asking you how you're feeling to be performing at the festival?
00:09
Well, it's such an incredible line-up.
00:11
It's just amazing to be included on a poster with all those names like
00:15
Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Kings of Leon.
00:19
It's really stacked, isn't it?
00:21
And I actually feel like it might be the best summer festival line-up in the country.
00:27
Like, I haven't seen one as good.
00:28
Have you yourself ever been to Lippon before?
00:31
Yeah, we've played the festival twice.
00:33
We played it in 2016 in a very minor way.
00:38
We played in, like, a church, which was, like, not part of the main festival site,
00:44
to barely anyone.
00:46
And then we came back and played to a lot of people supporting Paul Weller
00:50
a couple of years ago, which was incredible.
00:53
And it's so lovely to be asked back again to play with Alanis Morissette.
00:59
It's, again, just an absolute icon in the music industry,
01:03
and I can't wait to meet her.
01:06
If anything, starting from a church in Lippon to being on stage for Alanis Morissette,
01:10
would you say it represents the Lot of Ewaners' excellent,
01:13
I can't say that word, exponential growth over the last few years?
01:17
Well, yeah, I hope so.
01:19
I mean, it's going pretty well.
01:21
We started off in literally playing open mic nights in pubs,
01:25
and then now we've got a summer full of main stages at festivals and stadiums.
01:29
So it is, yeah, it's quite different.
01:34
It's growing.
01:37
Aside from the Living Festival, have you ever just been to the Wild Coast for leisure?
01:41
No, I haven't actually, but I will, because it's really nice.
01:45
But I don't have any time for leisure.
01:47
I don't know what that even means these days.
01:49
I'm just somewhere else every day, just trying to get clapped at.
01:54
Fair enough.
01:55
But you're from Lee, aren't you?
01:57
Yeah.
01:58
So it's not too far from the Wild Coast.
02:00
Did you never go as a child?
02:01
No, I think we always kind of hit up Blackpool when I was a kid.
02:06
But, you know, this rhythm is also excellent.
02:09
So I think I'm going to go.
02:10
You know, I've got a few days off now, so maybe I'll go now.
02:14
Yeah.
02:14
But no, you have been to Blackpool,
02:16
so Blackpool is the main seaside resort off the Wild Coast.
02:19
What are your memories of visiting Blackpool?
02:21
I think I like Blackpool because it's kind of specifically designed to have fun in.
02:28
Like, the whole thing is just, it's a little tacky, but in the best way.
02:33
And I think it really suits me that, like, the front with all the arcades and the shops
02:40
and the pleasure beach is, yeah, I've got a lot of fond memories from being a kid.
02:46
And now, and more recently too.
02:48
Again, being formerly, does it feel different performing at a festival in the North West?
02:52
Does it mean more to you?
02:54
Yeah, I think so.
02:56
It kind of feels like a home crowd a lot of the time when you play locally.
03:01
And that's always lovely, isn't it?
03:03
Like, that's always the best gigs.
03:05
Hopefully loads of people know who we are.
03:08
Can you remember what the Lippin Festival audiences were like the last two times?
03:11
Yeah, like, really receptive, really good.
03:15
A lot of singing.
03:17
And my favourite thing to do is we have a photographer that comes with us and he takes
03:22
photos from the back of the stage.
03:24
And I, like, zoom in on everyone's faces and I see a lot of joy.
03:28
And if I can see that and we're kind of providing that, then that means that we've done a good
03:34
job.
03:34
And that's, like, the greatest thing that I can take away from a show.
03:37
You've almost started saying it there, but I was next going to ask why should people,
03:41
if they haven't got tickets yet, get tickets so that they can see the Lottow in as a Lippin
03:45
Festival?
03:46
Because I will provide them with joy.
03:48
And then I will look at the picture of it on the way back.
