00:00This is such a joy for me to be here this afternoon, and indeed for my two deputy lieutenants, Sheila and Olivia,
00:10both of whom spent a lot of time with you, I think, to do the assessment which went towards the award this afternoon.
00:21This is such an important and wonderful day for you, and it is a great honour and a great privilege for me to be here
00:29to award, in the name of His Majesty the King, the King's Award for Voluntary Service.
00:36It's not an easy thing to get. You have done so brilliantly.
00:42It's very rigorously assessed, and a lot of people look at it.
00:49It goes across the desks of many, many people, and of course, a lot of people apply, and many people sadly do not get it.
00:58So please, I really hope that you feel very proud of yourselves.
01:04You do extraordinary work within your community and within the community of Crawley.
01:11And indeed, as that wonderful video said, your reach goes outside of that.
01:17But I think, too, what is so important is that you inspire your young people, our young people.
01:27And I think, personally, that a knowledge of culture, where the traditions, the cultures of both the country they live in here,
01:36and indeed your countries, is so important, because that's where people's roots are.
01:43That's what gives them heart. And you help that.
01:48And thank you, because it's such valuable work, such incredibly valuable work nowadays.
01:54I really do applaud you for that.
01:56Now, I've come to the more serious bit, and I'm going to ask Sheila, please, to read you the words on the warrant of award on behalf of the King.
