00:00Stay covered and keep drumming those sideshows
00:22I don't plan on checking out just yet
00:25If you're watching this, then you made it
00:28This far, at least
00:30What I'm about to tell you might seem crazy
00:35But it's important that you understand what's about to happen next
00:40This is Wanderer, The Fragments of Fate
00:43By the developers Mighty Eyes
00:45And it was released on the 3rd of April 2025
00:48About the game
00:50Move over, Marty McFly
00:52Because now we can all time travel via our headsets
00:55This game also gives me the vibes of the television series Quantum Leap
01:00Time travelling and jumping into people's bodies
01:02Solving puzzles and fixing things
01:04Trying to alter the course of history
01:07I love that they used some true life events in the game
01:10America didn't land on the moon first in this game
01:12Turns out the Russians got there first
01:14And now the world, as you see it, isn't how it's meant to be
01:18Levels and size
01:19It's a decent size
01:21And I think they have done well to make it seem bigger than what it appears to be
01:25With all the climbing
01:26Going back and forth
01:27And all the locations are so well designed
01:30Everything just looks amazing
01:32And you could interact with so many objects
01:34Enemies and bosses
01:36Now, I get this is meant to be more like a puzzle-solving escape room-esque type game
01:42But they have added enemies to perhaps make the game a little more interesting
01:47And it does need people to fight to give it that little extra
01:50But the problem with that is
01:52The enemies are just not that intelligent
01:54Neither is the combat that's stimulating or challenging
01:57And it feels like a half-assed effort
02:00Like an afterthought
02:01Weapons
02:02There are all types of weapons in here
02:04Knives, axes, bow and arrows, guns
02:07They are not brilliant
02:08But they are not that bad either
02:10Just don't expect too much
02:12And you should be okay with them
02:13Puzzles
02:14The puzzles in this game are just awesome
02:17More than once did I need to go visiting YouTube
02:20Looking for help after getting stuck for 20 or 30 minutes
02:23Which feels like a lifetime in VR
02:25But you do have a red button on the side of your watch
02:28Which gives you pretty decent hints
02:30It won't always solve the problem
02:32But it points you in the right direction
02:34Mechanics
02:35The mechanics are hit and miss
02:37But for a game of this magnitude on a standalone
02:40It's not a bad effort
02:41The punching and swinging mechanics are below average
02:44The climbing stuff is pretty decent
02:46Though occasionally I got launched into oblivion
02:48Like I was just thrown into outer space by Superman
02:51I'm really not that keen on the way your character jumps
02:54It feels a little sluggish
02:56And most of the time you wonder if you're gonna make the jump
02:59Then picking up stuff can be hit or miss
03:01Things occasionally merging into your surroundings
03:04Or floating off in my hand
03:06But hopefully the next few patches will solve most of these issues
03:09Also the enemies could do with some work
03:11Their movements just don't feel natural enough for the game of this level
03:15Controls
03:16The control system is quite nicely done
03:19The grabbing, shooting, jumping, ducking
03:22Not much to learn
03:23Then you have your watch which controls a lot of your game
03:26So you will have controls down in minutes
03:28Game menus
03:30The menus are well presented
03:32Giving you options of control and movement
03:35Such as teleport or locomotion
03:37Snap or smooth turn
03:39Locomotion steering and swimming control choices
03:42Then accessibility which offers difficulty settings
03:46Aim assistance
03:47Hints on or off
03:48Highlight interactives
03:50And grab targets
03:51Then there's player calibrations
03:53Language and subtitles
03:54And finally audio and haptics
03:57My thoughts
03:58Now I see in the metastore that this game is getting slaughtered
04:02But I don't understand why
04:03I know it's not perfect
04:04But it still is really good
04:06Especially with it being on a standalone headset
04:09I would recommend giving it a few updates
04:11And maybe for it to get cheaper
04:13But it is a fun adventure
04:15And an enjoyable story
04:16And those puzzles
04:17It's what this game is all about
04:19Puzzle solving
04:20Though the one thing that really grated on me
04:23After a couple of hours
04:24Is continuously having to time travel
04:26There's a point where you need to do it every couple of minutes
04:29Having one character move
04:30Then the other character needs to push a button
04:32Then back to the other character to move him again
04:35Then back to the other character to push a button again
04:37And back and forth
04:38It's just time consuming
04:40It would be great if they made it all flashy
04:42For the first time you did the time travel
04:44But then just have the location stored on your watch
04:47And be able to select your destination
04:49And travel it instantly
04:50Instead of having to swap artifacts all the time
04:53And hold him up to your watch
04:54And then have to wait another 10 seconds to travel
04:57I do hope they will fix many of the bug issues
04:59And the combat issues
05:00This is why I feel games shouldn't release
05:03Or probably not even announce it
05:04Until they have a fully working game
05:06I get there's an excitement to launch
05:08And get your work out there
05:09But can you imagine musicians releasing albums
05:12With loads of duff notes
05:14Or movie stars releasing films with stuffed lines
05:17And then saying
05:18Oh don't worry
05:19We'll release an update in a week or two
05:21And make the corrections
05:22But that's too late
05:23Like first impressions count
05:25We've played the game already
05:27Nobody is going to replay the game again straight away
05:30Just because it had an update
05:31Fixing 10% of the problems
05:33As consumers
05:34We deserve to get a fully working
05:36And completed game to play
05:38For the first time around
05:39Developers really need to learn and understand this
05:41If they don't want to see their years of hard work
05:44Being slaughtered in the reviews on the Meta store
05:46Anyway
05:47This is a really great puzzle adventure game
05:49If you like puzzles
05:50If you like combat and fighting
05:52I'd probably give this a miss
05:54So overall
05:55I mark
05:56Wanderer the Fragments of Fate
05:58And 8.7 stars
