00:00Season 3 of The White Lotus ended with an explosive finale on Sunday night.
00:04Now the actors whose characters died are reacting to their fatal endings.
00:08Warning, if you haven't watched the finale yet, major spoilers ahead.
00:14On Sunday night, 10 members of the show's cast gathered at the Four Seasons Westlake
00:18Village Hotel to watch the episode together for the first time, and emotionally witnessed
00:23the deaths of Amy Lou Wood's Chelsea, Walton Goggins' Rick, and Scott Glenn's Jim.
00:28Wood said of filming her character's death scene,
00:30"'For about two weeks before we shot it, I felt super weird.
00:34It was like this odd, ominous thing that was just hanging over us.
00:37And then it was like the hottest day ever, and Walton had to, like, carry me so many
00:41times and it was so hot."
00:43She went on to say,
00:44"'Obviously, being the one that dies, this whole time I've been so sad.
00:48Like Mike White kills Hope, because Chelsea is Hope and he kills her.
00:52And it's like, yeah, but then what I saw just then was like there's so much love in it,
00:56and that's why it's so much more painful because you're having to hold it all at the
00:59same time.
01:00But that's life, isn't it?
01:01It's love and pain all the time.'"
01:03During the Hollywood Reporter's cover shoot with the White Lotus cast, Wood told us this
01:07about her character's ending.
01:09"'I still can't believe my character, in a way, got her happy ending.
01:17In a really f----- up way.'"
01:19While Goggins wasn't at the finale event, he did share an emotional post about Rick
01:23and Chelsea's relationship on Instagram.
01:26He said, in part,
01:27"'With the heaviest of hearts, to me, ours was a love story.
01:30It was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved childhood trauma.'"
01:34He went on to say,
01:35"'In the depths of our despair, there's always beauty around us.
01:38If we can sit with our pain, just sit with it, not react, not be defined by it, it's
01:43there.
01:44The love the world is constantly giving in any given moment is there.'"
01:47Creator Mike White opened up about the show's ending in both an after-episode feature and
01:51on the show's official podcast.
01:53"'It's a classic theme of Greek tragedy, of somebody killing the thing that they love
01:57and trying to get some revenge.'"
01:59According to White, there is also a hint to quote a life beyond, and that love transcends
02:04this life.
02:05Even as they're wheeled out to the plane together in their symmetrical coffins, their love transcends
02:09this in some bittersweet way.
