Putra Heights inferno: Victims to receive additional financial aid from Petronas

Homeowners affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights will receive additional financial assistance of RM5,000 or RM2,500 from Petronas, depending on the extent of the damage to their homes, said Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.  Speaking to reporters on Monday (April 7), Amirudin explained that the RM5,000 contribution is for homes deemed a total loss, while RM2,500 will be given to other affected households, in addition to the assistance previously announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. 00:00We have completed the list of victims until 6 pm yesterday.

00:06Although we closed at noon, but until 6 pm yesterday, there were 613 houses,

00:14out of a total of 437 houses.

00:18This means that there are houses that have been rented,

00:21or there are lots of houses that have been rented in each house,

00:25or in houses that have been registered or that have been identified.

00:29So far, 613 houses have been registered,

00:34and we consider that the registration has been completed.

00:38And today, the first session of the donation will be delivered

00:44or will be carried out by the state government.

00:49The amount of donations for the total house,

00:54is 5,000 from Petronas, which is controlled by the state government,

01:00and another 5,000 from the federal government.

01:03This means that the total house will receive 10,000 ringgit,

01:06while the houses that have been registered and the tenants

01:11will receive 2,500 from Petronas,

01:14and 2,500 from the federal government through the SU.

01:18In fact, they will receive a minimum of 5,000 ringgit

01:21from the immediate donation that has been announced.

01:24And Alhamdulillah, I think that 219 that have been verified

01:28will be delivered today.

01:31The authorities will individually call them to deliver

01:36and will follow up with the next day.

01:40We estimate that by Friday, we will be able to finish

01:44after the verification process is carried out

01:47or the verification process of their presence in the PPS

01:52and those affected will receive donations from the federal government

01:58and also from Petronas.

02:01I would like to thank Petronas and the federal government for their help.

02:05Due to various offers and various assistance that have been announced,

02:12such as car loan, motorcycle loan, electric fence voucher,

02:18zakat assistance, government assistance, and so on,

02:23we will create a special website

02:27and that website can be used to register for those who are involved

02:33and used by our officials.

02:35And we can report how far the donations have been distributed,

02:39how many percent or how many percent have been distributed to the residents and so on.
