‘The U.S. shall not take over Greenland’: Danish PM’s warning to Trump

The Prime Minister of Denmark has thrown her support behind Greenland and said she’ll help the territory through this “very, very difficult situation".  Mette Frederiksen reiterated her claim that the U.S. “shall not take over Greenland” and added that it was “clear that we need to batten down the hatches even more".  President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated his desire to “take over” Greenland, which is a sovereign territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.

00:10And that is, of course, also the message that we will be saying together as a group in the next few days.

00:15It is our unity, and regardless of what discussions we may have down the road about our Commonwealth and the Greenlandic-Danish relationship,

00:23it is clear that with the pressure from the Americans on Greenland in relation to sovereignty,

00:28and in relation to borders, and in relation to the future, we must stand together.

00:33I think we have done the job well so far, but it is clear that we need to batten down the hatches even more.
