People on the street: Did Just Stop Oil win over Manchester?

We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about the announcement that Just Stop Oil would no longer be operating as a protest group.

00:00My name's Theo Houston-Betts and today I'm out in the streets of Manchester asking people about Just Stop Oil.

00:04And that's because they announced that they're hanging up the high-vis last week after years of protests

00:08and pushing for the government to stop rewarding new oil and gas contracts.

00:12That's exactly what's happened. They've reached their stated intention.

00:15We want to know what people's views of Just Stop Oil were.

00:18Were they a success or were they just an annoyance?

00:20They're just a bit of a nuisance.

00:23Like, for example, like you're sitting on the road, yeah?

00:27Like, I'm sure there's people that have urgent business to attend to.

00:32Yeah, I mean, I don't think that any, you know, normal person's going to be particularly inconvenienced

00:38by how they're being thrown on Stonehenge. Do you know what I mean?

00:42I think stuff like that is, in that it's harmless and also makes a statement, is a good form of protest.

00:49I mean, I understand, like, that they are very passionate about what it is that they're, like, fighting for.

00:57But there's a way in which you go about that.
