00:00Eyup, I'm Sophie Meylan and this is the Mrs Yorkshire podcast brought to you by the Yorkshire Post
00:07sponsored by Whitby Seafoods, the home of scampi, where we meet some of Yorkshire's
00:13most famous faces in their favourite places. What headline would you write about your life?
00:22It's not over yet. It's time to get changed and also find out what scampi is.
00:28What are your views on Jeremy Clarkson and Clarkson's fam?
00:34Well, I think Jeremy is not lost his Yorkshire roots. I think he sometimes forgets them. One
00:45of these days I'd love to meet Jeremy and tell him what it's all about in true Yorkshire fashion,
00:50which in language that he'll understand, but also I think he's been a wonderful,
00:57wonderful advocate for farming. We're here in Mel B's home. She's just become
01:03vice president of the Yorkshire Society. Will you ever bring back the Holland Red? No.
01:09I think we have a little bit of a bit of over sentimentality. I did have meet some rather hot
01:15dates though by the fish tank there, but there was always quite an unpleasant smell, wasn't there,
01:20if we've got to be honest. We're really sentimental now. And I can tell you now, no.
01:27So today you've been out and about in Whitby today asking people what actually is scampi,
01:33and you just said it's the wholetail wongasteen. That's right. Whereas when I'm asking people,
01:38they absolutely love it, but nobody's had a clue what it is. And it has so many names,
01:46that wongasteen you can call a Dublin red prawn. It's a Norway lobster. It's a wongasteen. It's
01:51all the same thing, which the Latin name is Nephrop's norvegicus. Or Marston's in Huddersfield.
01:57Or the chicken. Yeah, yeah, the chicken in Huddersfield. I'm not into this Yorkshire
02:02pudding wrap thing that's happening recently. No. I don't know. I haven't tried it. I think
02:06Yorkshire puddings are Yorkshire puddings, isn't that true? Yeah, exactly, yeah. We've been open
02:1035 years. It was all down to me, Dad. It was his idea. I suppose if you go way back, the
02:17family's really struggling, so we had to do something different. I think what I like so
02:22much, particularly, is I feel as though we're a place where families... The best thing about
02:26Yorkshire? I think it's the straightforwardness. There's no skirting around the edges. People are
02:35direct, and I like that. I like that. I think that's how the rest of the country should be.
02:42We're in an Alice in Wonderland themed cafe at Garden Centre here in Barnsley,
02:47and I'm here with TV psychic... My favourite place to go in Yorkshire
02:51is Cannon Hall. I'm not even sorry. The best thing about Yorkshire is dot, dot, dot.
02:58Well, that's de Barnsley, Elmsley. Today, I'm meeting the dog father himself.
03:05Yes, I'm meeting Graham Hall for our latest Mrs Yorkshire podcast. So, make sure you're
03:10tuning. And we're talking out for nowt and being from Yorkshire. This is the Mrs Yorkshire podcast
03:18brought to you by the Yorkshire Post, sponsored by Whitby Seafoods, the home of scampi.
