'UP teaches South Indian languages': Yogi counters Stalin's imposition charge

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath counters MK Stalin's Hindi imposition charge, stating UP teaches Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and other languages.

02:06do you think M.K. Stalin would be responding to that because I primarily see it is M.K. Stalin

02:11on this Hindu imposition bias charge versus a state where Hindi with other languages also is

02:18spoken widely and that's Uttar Pradesh. He's confronting it. He's the one leading the charge

02:23against M.K. Stalin now. Well, we can expect Pooja very soon M.K. Stalin to respond to Yogi

02:30Adityanath because a couple of days back Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh had spoken on a language

02:35where he had said that whenever such parties feel that their votes are at risk they try to create a

02:42divide in the society and at the time M.K. Stalin had hit out at Yogi Adityanath saying that we need

02:48not to learn lessons from Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and again when Yogi Adityanath has spoken

02:54out on this entire language where he has said that we are the one who are teaching Tamil,

02:59Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and various other languages have become smaller. That's what

03:05Yogi Adityanath is now saying. On that, there's a first reaction also which has now come in from

03:11the Congress party leader from Congress and MP from Tamil Nadu Karthik Chidambaram has reacted

03:18on this asking why shouldn't the government of Uttar Pradesh give details about the teachers

03:24in Uttar Pradesh who are imparting Tamil language. He has also gone on to say that we cannot allow

03:30the imposition of Hindi. It's not compulsory in Tamil Nadu to read Hindi and we will not

03:36accept this. He is also saying that migrant workers who come to Tamil Nadu do not have any

03:42pride language about the Tamil culture, about the Tamil language and no imposition of Hindi should

03:48take place. So once again we are now seeing Pooja, this language now erupting where Yogi Adityanath

03:53is now leading the entire charge where he is once again attacking. Piyush, stay on with me because I

04:06against Tamil Nadu chief minister about Hindi imposition. Let's listen in.

04:53But the Congress party has jumped in already, even before the Dravida Manitra Kharagam or

05:15MK Stalin has responded to this because that primarily was the charge made by UP Chief

05:21Minister.

05:22Congress is attacking Yogi Adityanath.

05:23Congress asks, how many Tamil students are in Uttar Pradesh?

05:28Cannot force Hindi language in a state like Tamil Nadu.

05:31Migrant workers in Tamil Nadu are ignorant of the Tamil language, is what Kati Chidambaram

05:37has to say.

05:38Let's listen in to what is being said because this is, remember the Congress party jumping

05:42in first here, even though of course this is from a member of Parliament, from the Congress,

05:48from the state of Tamil Nadu.

05:49However, the charge from Yogi Adityanath also was that these are political narrow interests

05:56that are the reason that you hear these statements coming in from the southern states because

06:01in Uttar Pradesh as well, we are teaching Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, other languages.

06:07It helps in job prospects which are getting encouraged in the state while also we are

06:11stopping those possibly in the state of Tamil Nadu, for example, who can learn more languages

06:17and then expand their job interests, employment, livelihood interests as well.

06:27So that's what has been said, Kati Chidambaram of the Congress party has made out that comment

06:34and he said that why is this being mentioned by Yogi Adityanath because how many students

06:40really are there speaking Tamil language in Uttar Pradesh?

06:43In fact, I must add here, for those who may not know, it's in Haryana especially, for

06:48example, you'll hear a lot of Tamil being spoken including, if you remember, former

06:55Chief Minister M. L. Khattar used to also speak in the Tamil language.

06:59So this is something is happening and is language war becoming a predominant discourse right

07:04now for the country, especially is it making a north versus south divide?
