00:00The inauguration of the Biodiversity Lab here in Brugherio is part of our sustainability strategy.
00:14Sustainability is one of the pillars of the strategy of the whole E.ON group.
00:18We have abandoned the production of fossil fuels and we have focused on offering our customers
00:25the possibility to choose green energy and to install solutions that lead them to be either self-producers like solar panels
00:36or have a less and less relevant impact thanks to energy efficiency solutions.
00:43In addition to this, during the last 15 years we have begun together with our customers
00:50to develop the so-called E.ON forest project, where we go to plant trees and shrubs.
00:57I say together with our customers because we like to involve the community in which we act
01:02and the customers have chosen to buy gas supplies together, choosing to plant a tree.
01:12In the context of the new E.ON Nature Strategy, an increasingly relevant interest for biodiversity is inserted
01:20because we are so focused on CO2 emission, but also on the positive impact
01:26and the value that the whole ecosystem can bring becomes increasingly relevant.
01:31For this reason, in the context of the E.ON forest project, we have since last year
01:36begun to insert these paths of biodiversity, which include flowering shrubs,
01:42as well as hotels for insects, with the dual idea of having a positive impact
01:49in the forests that we go to plant, but also to involve the community in perceiving
01:55and becoming aware of the value of biodiversity.
01:58We have also begun to measure not only the environmental impact through CO2,
02:04but also by measuring the so-called social value, which we measure through an indicator
02:11that measures the return on investment as a social impact.
02:16We have seen that, for example, the 17,200 shrub trees of 2024, of which 2,000 are here in Bruguerio,
02:24have a return measured over 30 years in terms of not only environmental benefits,
02:30but also social and economic impacts on the quality of the air.
02:34We have measured that, for every euro invested, there is a return of 3 euros,
02:39which means improving the quality of life of the communities where we do these interventions
02:45and, in the end, benefiting everyone, because there is certainly a better environment
02:50and, as in this case, a park where everyone can find a space to breathe clean air and enjoy the green.
