DJ Vlad Talks About VladTV Interviews And Hip Hop Crime

One VladTV interview that did land a subject in hot water, however, was the Keefe D interview ... where the reputed Crips member detailed his still alleged involvement in the 1996 Tupac Shakur murder.

00:00You know, as someone who's pioneered, you know, kind of like the sort of crime beat

00:06in hip-hop, you know, like, what do you say, where does that leave the space that you're

00:12in?

00:13Well, I don't know about the interviews.

00:19Those are, you know, a lot of times they get, you know, glamorized and so forth in terms

00:24of the effect of them, but most times these are actual, you know, it sounds like there's

00:28phone taps and it sounds like there's actually crimes being committed that have nothing to

00:32do with the interviews, it's people committing crimes.

00:35You know, if I interview someone about their past criminal, you know, things that they

00:41did years ago that they did jail time for, they're absolutely allowed to talk about this

00:47on camera.

00:48You know, they gave up a part of their life and were either found guilty or pleaded out

00:53and are able to talk about those crimes, you know, that's in their past.

00:58Nothing ever gets discussed that a person's actively doing on my platform ever.

01:03You know, or, you know, if something doesn't have a statute of limitations, we won't discuss

01:08it as well.

01:09You know, with the only notable exception was Keefy D, but Keefy D presented as he has

01:16immunity.

01:17He had already written a book that was on Amazon and he presented to me that he's able

01:21to talk about it.

01:23But in general, we don't want to know if you're doing anything illegal at this time.

01:28We simply don't want to do it.

01:29These conversations don't happen on or off camera.

01:32Yeah, I guess in the case of Keefy D has like, do you feel like Vlad TV as an organization

01:42will have to be implicated in that criminal case?

01:45Well, I think the interview is probably going to be part of the case.

01:50And the other interviews he did as well will be part of the case.

01:54And the book that he wrote will be part of the case as well.

01:57All of it.

01:58I think he said that, you know, that there was a co-writer who wrote the whole book and

02:04so forth.

02:05And there was a co-writer.

02:06He was actually there during the interview.

02:07I don't know what Keefy's involvement is in terms of the writing of the actual book.

02:11But yeah, all of it's going to be part of it.

02:14And ultimately, if they're essentially saying that there is no immunity, then anything that

02:20he said at any point is going to be part of this case, including Vlad TV, you know, the

02:23interview that we did.

02:24Well, we did multiple interviews, actually.

02:25We did two.

02:26Yeah, Vlad TV is going to be Vlad TV.

02:27That's not going to change.

02:28Nice.

02:29You know, and we have a track record of this type of thing that goes back to 2008.

02:36And like I said, I've never heard of anything that we've done somehow be connected to someone's

02:41case on any level except for possibly the Keefy D situation.

02:45That's the only one I've ever heard of.

02:48In fact, we've had situations where law enforcement had tried to subpoena.

02:55I think Las Vegas PD had been trying to reach out to us to get the raw data, all the raw

03:01footage from the Keefy D interview, and we just never cooperated, never responded.

03:07And unless there's a court order for me to do that, I'm not going to do that because

03:12I don't want to have someone sit and do an interview with me and then think that I'll

03:16turn around and work against them in any fashion.

03:19In fact, I will try to protect that interview in terms of their involvement in it as best

03:26as I can legally.

03:28And I have done that before successfully.

03:30Ultimately, law enforcement didn't get everything from us that they had been trying to get.

03:37And that will continue.
