00:00The dispute over Kuala Lumpur Tower's operations escalates as outgoing operators claim they
00:07will be forced to vacate the premises at midnight tonight.
00:11Hydroshop Sandrian Berhard and Manara Kuala Lumpur Sandrian Berhard said a press conference
00:16will be held at 11pm at the main entrance of KL Tower, adding that they will be forcefully
00:21evicted at 12am by the police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
00:26The two companies claim that their eviction would be unlawful since they have a suit pending
00:31in court concerning the award of a 20-year concession to manage the tower to Lim Suong
00:35Hai Capital Berhard.
00:38Last week, LSH Capital's subsidiary, LSH Service Master Sandrian Berhard, signed a
00:44lease agreement with the Federal Lands Commissioner securing rights to four hectares of land,
00:49including the site of the KL Tower, from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2045.
00:56Hydroshop and Manara Kuala Lumpur filed a lawsuit to challenge the award of the concession,
01:02seeking RM20.13 million in losses and damages and for the concession to be transferred to
01:08them.
01:09They claim there was an existing understanding pertaining to the tower's management and
01:14that LSH Capital had induced a breach of a contract they had agreed to with Putrajaya
01:19in August 2022.
01:21However, LSH Capital said it was not privy to any prior agreements or discussions between
01:27the government, Hydroshop and Manara Kuala Lumpur, adding that it would defend the suit
01:31while continuing to fulfil its obligations under the 20-year agreement.
