00:00Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a jail facility in the town of Consolation, Cebu

00:06This is aimed at the congestion of the jail facility in the town

00:10so that PDLs can be more comfortable

00:20Here in the mountainous part of the town of Consolation

00:24the new Consolation Municipal Jail will be built

00:27The LGU held a capsuleying and groundbreaking ceremony

00:31led by Mayor Teresa Aligado

00:34and officials of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology

00:37The local government donated more than 1 hectare of vacant land

00:42in Barangay Panas in BJMP

00:45It is expected that the congestion in the town's current jail facility

00:50will be reduced to 300 persons deprived of liberty or PDLs

00:55We are very overcrowded

00:58In fact, the incidence of the disease is high

01:03even in terms of the density

01:07So, for now, the only alternative is

01:11constant check-up and then day-take turns

01:14going out, doing exercises

01:17sunbathing

01:21I don't want to disturb them

01:24because it is very noisy

01:27The BJMP was happy with the construction of the new facility

01:31after 5 years of process of documents

01:35But with the help of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:40and the Department of Interior and Local Government

01:43the project will start

01:46In the construction of this new facility

01:49we are not only building physical walls

01:52but also strengthening the foundation of our justice system

01:57Lagasungs Nasion Municipal Jail will serve

02:00as a vital institution in ensuring the safety

02:05and rehabilitation of individuals who have transgressed the law

02:10It is a place where accountability meets compassion

02:15where discipline meets redemption

02:18and where the principle of justice helps with unwavering commitment

02:23The new municipal jail will have an administrative building

02:27accommodation building and kitchen area

02:30The target is to open and use it within a year
