00:00Hi, this is Robert De Niro for BRIT.

00:02People should speak up.

00:03They have to and they will.

00:04If things get worse, they will.

00:06Really, with mass demonstrations.

00:30It is the cultural diversity that our parents and grandparents brought to America that is

00:44the strength of this nation.

00:46And we can all be proud of our heritage.

01:16They were supportive of whatever I wanted to do, especially if it was in the arts.

01:34I think they might not have been as happy if I was something that was not.

01:41But they never encouraged me or discouraged me in any way.

01:46When I was a kid, I would see Marty around the area that Marty lived in.

02:16And I hung around him.

02:19And then later we got together, maybe 10 years after that, we might have started talking

02:25about Mean Streets that he was thinking of doing.

02:29And that's how it all started.

02:46I don't think I would be here today if it wasn't for the people that supported me.

03:15I don't think I'm a tough father the way some fathers can be.

03:22But my kids might think that.

03:45On September 11, 2001, my own city, New York, my own New York City neighborhood was attacked.

04:14And we started the Tribeca Film Festival as a gesture of hope, resilience, and defiance.

04:35While the name DeNiro is synonymous with tough guy, his true gift is the sensitivity that

04:40he brings to each role.

04:49I feel so deeply offended by the behavior of this person and what he's done to tear

04:55down America, its institutions.

04:59I'm very, very concerned about what's going on in this country with someone like Trump.

05:06You look at other dictators, they're very much like him.

05:09Now we have a gangster president who's defying the law, and it's not good for us.

05:16It's going to ruin this country.
