02:37I've known all my life that I was gay.

02:40And it wasn't until I was 16, got my driver's license,

02:44went and plunked myself down in Laguna Beach that I first had sex with a man.

02:52I checked out books to learn terms like queen and chicken and trade

02:58so I would know what the lingo was.

03:00When most of us came out, it was a different time and structure.

03:05When I was growing up, my father was always trying to out me.

03:09Well, here I am, free, proud, and gay as can be.

03:23They say that there are older gay people who are enjoying their lives and are active.

03:35And there are many people who express that they're

03:41no longer fearful of getting old after seeing us.

03:46Doing these old gay things have made me learn to love myself and to know who I am

03:52and to be freer in sharing that also.

03:57Because I'm a very, very private person.

04:00What I would tell them, at least I would say to my younger self, is to relax, you know?

04:06I live my life with the idea that, well, you gotta cram it all in because you're gonna die.

04:12But, you know, when you look back on it for 60-some years now that I've been alive,
