00:00Leonardo is just very sincere, he's a very sincere young man and he cares deeply about
00:29people, he cares deeply about his friends and he cares deeply about what he does in
00:36the business and about his craft.
00:42There's kind of no joking around with him when it comes to the work itself, he's as
00:47serious as he possibly can be.
00:59I grew up in this industry, I know this town, so many of my friends are actors, I know how
01:16hard it is to get work and I know how lucky I was to be in the right place at the right
01:22time and had that not happened my life would be drastically different and I think that
01:28look we all battle with those demons and that sort of voice in your head.
01:41I'd always dream that I'd be an actor and be doing well, I mean I always had fantasies
01:46about that.
01:47Now that you're becoming more popular, people are really kind of watching you, does that
01:51bother you at all?
01:54Well you know, no because of course if you're an actor and everything or anyone in the entertainment
02:00business you're going to be watched, I mean the first wrong move you do is going to be
02:03you know pushed all over the world and that's just something that comes along with being
02:07in the entertainment business and if you want to be an entertainer you can't complain about
02:11it.
02:41Thousands of climate scientists agree that global warming is not only the most threatening
02:51environmental problem but one of the greatest challenges facing all of humanity.
03:08I'm taking the role of a concerned citizen like everybody else, I think like all of us
03:13do we see that there are dramatic changes happening to our planet, it's hard not to.
03:18Certainly in the United States we are the ones that should set an example for the rest
03:22of the world, we are the most powerful democracy in the planet but we're also the, we're the
03:28largest polluters.
03:46As an actor I pretend for a living, I play fictitious characters often solving fictitious
03:53problems. I believe that mankind has looked at climate change in that same way, as if
03:59it were a fiction. Clean air and a livable climate are inalienable human rights and solving
04:06this crisis is not a question of politics, it is a question of our own survival.
04:21The challenges before us require each and every one of us to take action, we owe this
04:26to ourselves but more importantly we owe it to future generations who are counting on
04:32all of us.
04:36If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in modern science or empirical
04:50truths and you will be on the wrong side of history. The time is now, it's imperative
04:55that we act and I really wanted tonight, I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude for what
05:05happened tonight but I feel there is a ticking clock out there, there is a sense of urgency
05:11that we all must do something proactive about this issue.
05:14We should not have a candidate who doesn't believe in modern science to be leading our
05:27country. Climate change is one of the most concerning issues facing all of humanity and
05:34the United States needs to do its part.
05:37We should not have people in office that do not believe in facts and truths and modern
05:45science that are able to manipulate and risk the entire future of this entire generation.
06:07I have been long concerned about extinction, about the loss of biodiversity, the disappearance
06:17of our fragile ecosystems all being wiped out by human greed and indifference. So with
06:25that I started my foundation LDF 20 years ago to work on these issues. So as the old
06:31saying goes, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change
06:37the world.
06:38It was an incredible ease and comfort getting to work alongside Brad. I mean we kind of
07:03grew up in the same generation, got our start around the same time.
07:27It was his idea too with his father George DiCaprio so this is something he wanted to
07:31discuss and so we did it. It obviously helps with visibility but he wanted to do this
07:39to give the platform to the people in the film who are really coming up with a solution.
07:43Not about him, it's about the people in the movie.
