00:00For 14 weeks this fall, I held fire drill Fridays in Washington, D.C.
00:29The purpose was to raise awareness of the urgency of the climate crisis.
00:36As Greta Thunberg says, we have to act like our house is on fire because it is.
00:59But something I think isn't oftentimes talked about in the environmental movement or in
01:16the conversation about climate change is that the meat and dairy industry is the third leading
01:24cause of climate change.
01:27I think sometimes we wonder, what can we do in this fight against climate change?
01:33And there's something that you can do today, right now, and tomorrow
01:39by making a choice about what you consume.
01:56It's an emergency.
02:03And so we're trying to raise the sense of urgency
02:06and encourage people to engage in civil disobedience and to mobilize.
02:27California is one of the big oil-producing states.
02:32It's also the fifth largest economy in the world.
02:37We already have more fossil fuel projects underway than the climate can sustain.
02:46They have to be halted.
02:48California's children are more important than fossil fuel profits.
