00:11I can remember my mother, sweet lady, looking at me after we left the hospital and saying,

00:40Out of everything terrible that happens to you,

00:44something good will come if you look hard enough for it.

00:50She was right.

01:10I remember to this day how stuttering felt, how dehumanizing, how embarrassing,

01:20how much it put into question, in my own mind as well, my capabilities.

01:39My dad used to say, and I give him my word to this, he'd say,

01:50Joey, remember, a job's about a lot more than a paycheck.

01:54It's about your dignity.

01:56It's about your place in the community.

01:58It's about who you are.

02:09It's about who you are.

02:40I came home after law school to Wilmington, to our county.

02:47It had gone dark.

02:49Dr. King was assassinated.

02:52Wilmington had been in flames.

02:55The National Guard patrolled the streets.

02:59And that turmoil inspired me to become a public defender.

03:15I was in Washington hiring staff.

03:19I got a phone call.

03:21My wife and three children were Christmas shopping.

03:24Tractor trailer broadsided and killed my wife and killed my daughter.

03:29And they weren't sure that my sons would live.

03:54I've made over, they actually calculated this, 8,200 round trips,

03:59over 2,100,000 miles on that trailer.

04:11This is not a referendum on whether or not sexual harassment is a grave offense.

04:18I said from the beginning, this is about whether or not sexual harassment occurred.

04:35I haven't always been right.

04:37It was a big mistake when it was made.

04:39We thought we were told by the experts that crack, you never go back.

04:43It was somehow fundamentally different.

04:45It's not different.

04:47But it's trapped an entire generation.

05:47This is an extraordinary election.

05:55The American people are ready.

05:57I am ready.

05:58Barack is ready.

05:59This is his time.

06:01This is our time.

06:02This is America's time.

06:11My name is Joe Biden and I love ice cream.

06:15You all think I'm kidding, I'm not.

06:17The Taoiseach knows a lot about it.

06:19His mom lived in Long Island for 10 years or so.

06:23God rest her soul.

06:25And although she's, wait, your mom's still, your mom's still alive as your dad passed.

06:36I got to get this straight.

06:38I tell you what, man, I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid.

06:45I am even more proud to be standing here doing this from the Major Beau Biden facility.

07:03Ladies and gentlemen, I only have one regret.

07:06He's not here.

07:08Because we should be introducing him as president.

07:14For the loved ones we've all lost.

07:24For the families that we can still save.

07:27Let's make America the country that cures cancer once and for all.

08:09Look, everyone knows who Donald Trump is.

08:12We have to let him know who we are.

08:15We choose hope over fear.

08:18We choose science over fiction.

08:22We choose unity over division.

08:26And guess what?

08:28We choose truth over lies.

09:03This is the most unusual campaign, I think, in modern history.

09:10But I start off with the premise, Mike, that I'm going to follow the doc's orders.

09:17Not just for me, but for the country.

09:19After months of doing nothing other than predicting the virus would disappear,

09:24or maybe if you drank bleach you may be okay,

09:27Trump has simply given up.

10:03You're the worst president America has ever had.

10:05Come on.

10:06Let me just tell you, Joe, I've done more in 47 months.

10:10I've done more than you've done in 47 years.

10:33This is America's day.

10:36This is democracy's day.

10:39A day of history and hope, of renewal and resolve.

10:44Through a crucible for the ages, America has been tested anew,

10:48and America has risen to the challenge.
