00:44And I was like depressed.

00:48I was so sad because I was like,

00:50oh my God, I don't want my face to turn like that.

00:55It was very hard for me to accept it.

01:16I literally covered it up for 12 years.

01:19I spent thousands of dollars on makeup.

01:22I would not go around the corner of my house

01:26to the store without my makeup on.

01:28My family helped me to embrace my vitiligo.

01:32My mom used to tell me that all the time.

01:34Why don't you just embrace it

01:35and not wear the makeup anymore?

01:45From Mardi Gras one year,

01:47I was with my grandson and one of my cousins.

01:49The parade is about to start.

01:51And as I'm walking up, this man was like,

01:58I was sad because I never wanted my grandson

02:10I just wanted teenagers and children

02:13and women to come on my page,

02:16see me, own my beauty, own who I am.

02:20And they don't just see a girl with vitiligo.

02:24They see an artistic light with vitiligo.

02:33I walk into a place and I own it.

02:35And once you own the room,

02:38nobody can tell you anything negative

02:41because it's just like,

02:42how can you say something negative to a person

02:47that is exuding confidence?

02:49If you have vitiligo,

02:51I want you to know that you are perfectly painted

02:53with a purpose.

02:54And that you are so special

02:56on the fact that you're different.
