Afghanistan's first woman pilot speaks out from exile

"The Taliban war is against women."  Afghanistan's first woman pilot in decades was driven out by the Taliban in 2015. Today, she predicts a grim future for her country's women.

00:00The Taliban war is against women. The first thing they do, they take away everything from a woman.

00:13I was a symbol of freedom of women in Afghanistan.

00:24As a woman that I raised my voice and tried to go against what they believe

00:29and unfortunately it ended up rest my life and my family's life.

00:37Already in Kabul, you see no sign of any woman. Any pictures of a woman in the stores and the

00:43walls, it has been already blacked out. There's no woman in the city.

01:30I never thought when I was a little girl that this is going to be new Afghanistan.

01:35And this is really scaring me that seeing this, this 20 years of fighting the war,

01:41all the lives, international lives has been lost in Afghanistan during this life.

01:4620 years of war, all those trillions, trillions of dollars been spent.

01:52What happened to all of those? What happened? It all wasted.

01:56How the world can abandon Afghanistan that quick? And that's what surprised me that

02:02how Afghanistan can go back to the story that it was 20 years ago. And I'm honestly,

02:09I'm not saying I'm going to give up hoping, but I will still hope for the better future

02:14and the better future for the girls and women in Afghanistan.
