00:00I don't want to answer that question, and I don't really know how to.

00:09I'm a little weary of people asking me why I transitioned from acting to directing.

00:17I was in a popular television show, Happy Days, and the Andy Griffith Show, and American Graffiti.

00:23Why did I want to become a director?

00:25To me, it's kind of obvious, because directing is an extension of control.

00:30It just was a job that appealed to me, so it's kind of a simple answer.

00:40I get a little tired of answering or not answering that one, depending on my frame of mind that day.

00:49Why do you think you've had a successful marriage?

00:54I've been married for almost 44 years. I'm very grateful for this.

00:58But I don't think that because I've had this experience, this kind of gift, or this great relationship,

01:04that that means that there's some formula, that I know how it's happened.

01:10It's just my good fortune.

01:13What's your favorite project?

01:17Which movie have you directed that you are the proudest of, or that was your favorite project?

01:22I get tired of it being asked, because it's a really difficult one to answer.

01:30I don't even really know how to address it, because they're asking things that I love about all of the films,

01:35and things that disappoint me about all of the films, and everyone's own unique experience.

01:40It's a little bit like saying, who's your favorite kid?

01:43I have four kids, and now five grandkids. Who's your favorite?

01:46I don't want to answer that question, and I don't really know how to.
