00:00There are still 10 countries that punish being gay with death.

00:07For those 10 countries where you can't be yourself,

00:12they should not be allowed to compete at the Olympic Games.

00:30These past Olympic Games, there were more out LGBT athletes

00:42than any of the previous Olympics combined,

00:45which is a great step forward.

00:49Yet, there are still 10 countries that punish being gay with death

00:57that were still allowed to compete at the Olympic Games.

01:00I think that is quite shocking to a lot of people

01:03because I know I've spoken a lot about that,

01:07but at the same time, it's all well and good to be able to speak about those things,

01:11but I think it's really important to try and create change

01:14rather than just highlighting and shining a light on those things.

01:17So I want to make it my mission over the next,

01:19well hopefully before the Paris Olympics in 2024,

01:23to make it so that the countries that criminalise and punish people by death

01:28for LGBT people are not allowed to compete at the Olympic Games.

01:53I am incredibly lucky to come from Great Britain,

02:13where I am able to be my true authentic self

02:16and compete without worry of ramification.

02:19And I feel like wherever you are born,

02:21you should be able to have that stress taken away from you.

02:26And for those 10 countries where you can't be yourself,

02:32they should not be allowed to compete at the Olympic Games,

02:35or definitely should not be allowed to host an Olympic Games.

02:38For example, the World Cup coming up in Qatar

02:41has extreme rules against LGBT people and about women,

02:45and I think it should not be allowed for a sporting event to host in a country

02:50that criminalises against basic human rights.

02:53So that is going to be my mission now,

02:57to try and change that.
