00:00I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook.
00:06Well, I'm not a crook. I've earned everything I've got.
00:31I've made my mistakes, but in all of my years of public life, I have never profited, never profited from public service.
00:40I've earned every cent.
01:01Do you have a reaction to the IRS decision on Mr. Nixon's taxes?
01:06Yes, I do. Because if it was I, I would have been put in jail.
01:10When we make out our tax returns, we are in a constant state of anxiety to see that everything is exactly right.
01:20We are responsible. We answer for what we put on this paper, no matter who makes it out for us.
01:26But it seems the same isn't true of the president's return.
01:29Well, he is going to pay them now. The White House says he will pay his back taxes without a fight.
01:34Well, the very fact that he did this, and that so many others may be doing it and getting away with it,
01:41makes me feel that it's hotter for people without influence.
02:00One contribution from a schoolgirl totaled only six cents. A businessman sent in $5,000.
02:06Hope you get a million. Here's one dollar.
02:12We are for you. This is to help pay your taxes.
02:15From a friend, I really root for you. You have been great. God bless you, Mr. President.
