Lunch shaming banned in New Mexico

Lunch shaming the kids when parents can't pay their debt is still happening in many states.

00:10Stigmatizing these children that way can possibly last with them for the rest of their lives.

00:31I just put the cheese sandwich on his tray, and that's when he just looked and his eyes welled up.

00:43Today, children are treated very differently in the lunchroom.

00:50If they don't have money to pay the lunchroom debt that they may have, and if they're 6 years old or 11 years old,

00:57they have no power, they have no way of actually resolving this matter.
